View Full Version : Black OEM Honda plastic???

I have been told that Honda now makes ATC plastic only in black. I find this hard to belive as it makes no sense. But then I was showed a pic of a 250r and guess what, it was black. Not all black but the tank and front fender were. Guy says he ordered from his Honda dealer.
I am looking for an '86 250r to restore and this mis-match look will not do it for me. Is there any truth to this or is my chain being pulled.

I would say your chain is being pulled. I am willing to bet that he did order them through a Honda Dealer. How ever the dealer probably got them through Maier. I hope I am wrong and Honda is making ATC plastic again. Black or other it would be a start.

This is not the first I've heard of black plastic from Honda. According to an online site I visited a few months ago (I'll try to find it again and post it here) Honda is no longer making 250r gas tanks or fenders in red (according to the site Honda officially calls it Passion Red, I don't know if it's true or not) the fenders and tank are (at least were...) available in black only. I have seen several 85-86 250r's sporting black tanks and fenders in different combinations so I tended to belive what I had read.
I haven't ordered Honda fenders in at least 4 years so I am not sure what is available and what isn't for sure. I'll go try to find that site now and get back to you...

The gas tanks for late 250Rs are available in black only (Because all the new quads use a black plastic for their tanks). As far as I know the fenders are still red and discontinued.

If you need rear fender, I can still get original fender in Red throu my Honda dealer. Rear fenders go for $235.00 front I'm not sure on price. Gas tank is available in black only.

Hey.... ask them if they got a '86 White OEM 350x front fender laying around while you are at it! With that, I'd have all new OEM plastic since this summer. Service Honda, my local dealer and Parts Bandit all told me discontinued!

Same here on the 350X, Out of stock but I can still get 85-86 250R front and rear.

partsfish still has them you can order them. They dont say discontinued so.... 8) try there

Service Honda also has them and is cheaper. I ordered a complete set of plastic minus the black tank and all stickers but some are discontinuded.

i just got all new OEM plastics for my 85 250r, and yes, all they have is black tanks, bike will be finished soon!

Where do I get a black tank? My local dealer is full of a bunch of morons and really don't care about trikes. I guarantee they won't know anything about ordering a black tank.

Wow. I looked all over for a black 250R tank last summer...and now Honda Makes them. :rolleyes:
