The 125 atc i've been working on is having issues with the gas cap. it won't allow the tank to vent, it will cause the trike to die, but if you pull the cap off of the machine it will fire right back up. is there any mod that is common or anything to do besides popping the cap off?

does the cap have the knob you turn on or off? does it look like something is missing from the center of the cap?

This seems to be a very common problem. Some folks swear by soaking it in solvent it will start working again while others suggest drilling a relief hole in it. The drilling method does create it's own problems like leaking gas when the tank is full. Probably best to try and soaking it or getting a good used cap from somewhere.

I never heard the soaking thing?? Besides that ,yes, 2 options, drill a hole, insert a nipple, put a piece of gas hose on it to vent it,like the racers. Or get a different cap.

it does have the on off knob, i might try soaking it in solvent before i got drilling holes, any specific solvent work better than others?

i'm sure other have a better way, but personally i recommend CLR (calcuim, lime, rust remover) for it. won't hurt the paint or the rubber gasket. should be able to get it just about anywhere, silver bottle with a big CLR on it. lol
