Today was the season opener of the Maxxis series Tork truck racing at the beautiful Red Bud motocross track in SW Michigan. Having gone there since 1987 to watch all the pro MX races for the 4th of July weekend, and spent many great weekends riding up there over the years on my bikes. Me and a few friends figured this race should be worth checkin' out, since it's only 50min from home. I have only recently started watching this on tv, and it always looks cool. Considering that we have had nothing but rain for what seems like forever, thay were able to get things in pretty good shape all things considered. This is Redbuds first ever truck race, and is was incredible. I Got to meet Marty Hart in the pits and got him to sign my TF shirt. He got a kick out of it and said, Hey.. That's me on there with laughter. Cool dude who can really drive trucks. Finally got to meet Rick Johnson too. I remember watching him and Jeff Ward battling back in 87 at Redbud my first time at the pro nats. It's amazing what these guys remember from their past 2 and 3 wheeled racing days... If you ever get the chance to go to a race like this, do it. Pretty amazing stuff. Redbud offers extreme elevetion changes and beautiful natural terrain found nowhere else on the circuit. It took the drivers a bit to adjust, as most all other tracks are fairly flat with man made hills and jumps. These huys we're hucking these trucks 15'-20' feet in the air at times.:naughty: Next year will be even bigger they say. They had roughly 5000 people in attendance for the 1st ever Redbud truck race. GIT IT!!!!!!!
