Hello everyone,
I'm not new to the forum but this is my first time posting because i have a problem with a 1984 atc 200m. Recently the bike was bought and was not running but a friend (owner of the bike) and I tore the motor down to replace the gaskets and burned out piston. The motor is back together now and got about 120 psi on the compression test. The motor is making spark but it seems a bit weak and its getting fuel, BUT i still wont start. We have the wiring harness from a atc 185s on it now because of a problem with the stock wiring harness. What i DONT understand is why it will not run if it has good compression, spark, and fuel?
I would REALLY appreciate some help, im not an amateur but im stumped....:wondering

Timing is right?

You say weak spark, whats the stator look like? Possible CDI? Many options if the spark is weak

I'v timed these motors on several occasions, so i guess i can say i'm good with them unless it maybe jumped timing afterward. I tried to check the stator for the proper ohms but i dont know how to use the digital multimeter. Are there any common problems with the stators in the 200m's?

check the pulse generator coil air gap. air gap between pulse generator and rotor should be .3mm-.4mm. if that is ok the check your exciter coil behind rotor magnet/flywheel. set the multimeter to ohms put one lead on the black wire and one on the ground if there is continuity than it is normal a range of 150-400 ohms.

from what i could tell when i tried to measure the ohms, its only like 125 to 137..... its kinda all over the place. But if 140 is the minimum i guess thats why it aint starting maybe?
