nice machines! is that a supertrapp pipe on the one?
All of them are nice! how do you like them? are they decent power-wise? I've heard they handle good. One last thing, should i hold out for an 86 or are the 83-85's just as good?

There not bad for power, i like to use mine alot for trails but it's not to shabby at the dunes either!! I think the 85-86 have a little better suspension but i'm not positive but they are all good bikes no matter which one you choose. I just happenend accross an 84 so thats what i went with!! All in all its a good choice in a bike but if your looking for raw power ya gotta go with the 250r's no question:naughty:

I'd hold out for a second gen.
I really, really, really, really, really, wish I'd never sold my white/white '86 200X. It was.....simply awesome. White fenders, white tank, blue seat, red frame, red '85 250R headlight.

Another thing, first gen 200x's are a dime a dozen, they'e cheaper and you can find parts easier.

My son and I spent a long weekend at Little Sahara riding them HARD with a group of 350x & 250R riders. They did great in the sand but you can't ride them like a 450 quad. It's an exercise in momentum management (I weigh 280 or so with gear).
Good in the sand. Fantatsic on the trails.

jb2wheels where did you get these lights??????
jb2wheels
06-20-2011, 11:16 AM
I bought the light bars from the fabricator (Wild200x = Ted) on this thread on 3WO:
http://www.3wheeler.org/vb/showthread.php?t=39796&highlight=desert+lights
The lights are Hella 500 55W - 1 fog + 1 driving on each trike. The Loncin trike runs both lights at once with no issues. I thought the 200X stator could run 1 at a time and just switch using the hi/lo. It does not - too dim. A stator rewind is in my plans later this year. I hope to be able to run both at once.
I bought these because I wanted a similar set way back in the 80s and never did get it. I'm still too cheap to do it with a pair of Cibie Oscars or PIAAs though.
Just reliving the past 1 trike at a time.

I consider my 86'200X the ultimate buddy bike...and racing it has been a hoot in the B class.
The lack of HP makes you ride with more flow and you notice mistakes because of it. It's was popular then and still to this day...it's just a fun trike thats really well matched suspension to motor and overall weight.

Been a few months, but got it mostly finished! I am so happy I cant stand it!!!! Thanks to everyone here who answered all my newbe questions ... I got a new front tire coming up from the lower 48 soon ... I hope. Here is what I did: Piston, rings, bore, valves, cut seats, timing chain, tensioners, con rod kit, changed out the head, stiffer kicker spring (gears were just replaced by PO) 2 tranny bearings (the blind ones!!) clutch, wheel bearings, fork oil, YZ250 front master, and a KX80 caliper, repacked the steering head bearings 400ex hubs, dirt bike kill switch. Now its time to go beat the hell out of her!!

its not too bad to reach the bars. gotta kinda ride it like a sport bike (crotch rocket). the only real big issues im having is its blowing out the swinger bushings like crazy snd its not hooking up to the ground too well. but its a blast !!!!
