My 83' 185s (which 3ww members have given me great advice on so far) is almost done. I finished putting the engine back together but have two small questions... around the center of the cylinder head cover is a random hole for a bolt, its not used to torque the head cover down or anything but its there ... so far I've found a bolt i think goes there ... it threads right in, this bolt is maybe an inch or two long and the tip isn't threaded. my second question is the little rubber gasket for the decomp lever is kinda junky, if i smeared a bunch of hondabond all over it should it seal that spot up? soon as i get this done im going to mount the engine put on new tires and have one sweet trike, I'll probably sell it though being its been nothing but trouble, and buy a beater 110 for 150 bucks i can just sell when it starts to go. would like a pic of the bolt if possible, thanks

Is the tip of said bolt pointed? If so, that holds the decomp lever in place.

the tip of the bolt is smaller then the threaded part , but its not pointed like a screw, ill check the 3ww manuals some more but my trike is at my friends place along with my clymer manual, the decomp lever has a bolt that goes in the side to hold it on as well as a spring but it would make sense for there to be a bolt that holds it on internally

The un threaded bolt, Is more then The bolt that Holds the Cam chain Guide in place. Sure that is the only bolt that has threads, But then the tip is not threaded. The Plastic piece that goes from the bottom case threw the top To Keep the cam chain in place,

That Black Piece is the Guide

ok ive figured it out, between pics manuals and such, your very bottom link Headsup, the pic of the bolts, the one thats a black bolt thats really short and has no threads on the tip is the one that goes in the random hole, i think your were talking about the really long silver one , because the hole dosnt give you access to the cam chain guide. anyways, thanks for the help, I should have my trike running by July 3rd since all it needs now is the engine to be mounted and wired, as well as new back tires... too many drifts and 28 years and most tires wont look too good.
