Yamaha serial/VIN numbers

This is to help figure out the year/model for Yamaha's only.

1980 - 1984 have a 9 digit serial number for the engine/frame. They will match, unless someone has changed the engine. VIN decoders will not work.

1985~ - 9 digit on engine, 15 digit on frame. You can use a VIN decoder to figure out the year.

I included the 1985~ numbers, in case you want to check and see if you have the correct year engine, in your machine (works on most models).

Yes my vin is 29u-078948 and someone cut my wiring harness in like 5 places on each one I can't figure it out can you help me out with knowing the basic wires it has to just run please
