I picked up a 125m afew days ago it runs great no smoke and doesnt use hardly any gas. The only thing that seems to be wrong is that it pops into neutral sometimes. Ive searched and have found people talking bout shift pawl shift forks and other things. Mine seems to do it mostly shofting into 3rd but sometimes 2nd and 4th it will also pop out if you have it in a strain in 2nd or 3rd. I was wondering what everyones opinions on this was and also what everyones experiences were. Also does the 125m have an adjustable clutch like my 250sx because the clutch slips some taking off on hills. Thanks in advance.

can't really help with the shifting problem, but yes the clutch is adjustable. should be the same if i remember my buddy's 250es right. if not, the adjuster is under the rubber cover (if you still have it) on the right side of the case. just need a screwdriver and wrench for it. loosen the locking nut and with the screwdriver turn the center adjuster of it in till resistance is felt (i had to go a bit further for mine to lose the extra slip i was getting, i think my clutch is starting to go) hold the center in place with the screwdriver and tighten the lock nut down. readjust if not happy.

It is more than likely a worn out bushing on the high/low switching mechanism. Had the same issue with a 110. Had to replace the bushing for the front sprocket i believe. May wanna look into that. Easy fix.

mine is an 85 with high/low 4 speed. there should be a slot for a flathead screwdriver in the center of the lock nut for doing the clutch adjustment.
took a pic to be on the safe side.

Well i adjusted my clutch lastnight. I backed the nut off turned the screw till there was some resistance then went alittle farther. Then tightened the nut up. First go around i think i got it alittle tight. The clutch didnt alip and it disnt pop out of gear but it was really hard to change into 4th gear. So i backed the screw off some it changes good now still hasnt popped out of gear yet but i havent rode it alot being that it was 11 oclock lastnight and i was trying it out with no headlight. I will ride it some this afternoon and maybe try backing off the clutch alittle more

not trying to thread-jack, and sorry for all my dumb questions, i am ignorant, but should you adjust the clutch when it is running? or not

I adjusted mine with it shut off and in neutral not sure it makes a difference or not

make adjustments with it not running. if it was running and in somehow in gear and you adjusted it too far you'd end up running yourself over. really though as long as it's in nuetral i don't see where it'd make any differance.

Well i took the 125 out for some trail riding lastnight all in all it perfoemed better than i expected. Clutch is still to tight its difficult to xhange gears. As far as fixing the shifting problem the clutch didnt help. It is still hanging up between 2nd and 3rd and tries to pop out of 3rd and sometimes 1st anymore ideas anyone tore into one of these things and have pics of exactly what to look for

Bump on an old thread. I havent had time to do much to tge 125 since ive been workin on my 250 but lastnight we rode about 25 mile of backeoads and trails. Ive found that it only pops out of gear when in high range and the clutch slips in high range. In low range it performs perfectly? Makes me seadoo is right anybody got anymore ideas or comments on what to look for.

What kind of oil do you use... if you use standard motor oil you can glaze over your clutch, making it slip. You have to use oil specifically for atv's that has wet clutch protection in it, if not, you'll start slipping.

I use honda oil 10w 40 for wet clutchs
