Hello friends,
First post, so I will briefly introduce the machine. I own a Kawasaki KZ250 CSR. Ran great, just had some trouble, at times, starting up. Got an amazing deal for it, which made me a bit suspicious, but I jumped on it anyway.
For some time, it was being a bit touchy about starting at certain times. One morning it wouldn't start, the same afternoon it would. Later in the evening, I pulled over due to a rain storm. After about an hour of hard rain, I went to start her up again, and she failed to start. It all seems to add up to an initially failing ignition module, and a now failed one. I think the guy knew what was coming, and how expensive these things are and tried to get rid of it while it was still working.
I managed to get home, came back for her the next day, and I saw that the ignition unit had filled with water :(.
I'm just assuming that this is the reason why it is not starting anymore. The starter is fine, it cranks, but just no spark [I checked.] It could be the coil, but I don't think it was exposed in the water. The remaining electrical connections seem okay.
I have a few questions: Will the CDI unit from the KLT 250 also work on my motorcycle? I think the IDs are the same: T1D 11-01. I know, from searching, that these are particularly difficult to find, and the OEM prices are sky high.
Any one have any ideas where I could source one of these? Any one here selling one?
I sincerely appreciate your time.
Veer
