Well, my 200x died on me saturday while riding. It was lacking power and running lean. I had adjusted the pilot valve a little and went riding. About a mile in to the trip it started to bog down, then it shut off completely and I couldnt get it to start back up. So i swapped out the carb for one another member let me borrow (Thanks Redskinman). When I began kick starting it I realized that it felt like it had a lot more compression! WTF! just by changing the carb? with or without choke it had more compression. Still could not get it to start. Tried new plug, but still no go. The manual says to start the pilot valve off seated and then back it out 1 3/4 turns. I tried that and no go. HelP!

How do you know it was running lean?
Is it sucking air through the carb boot?
It should not need any jetting changes unless something changed - new air filter, new exhaust, or air leaks.
Does "pilot valve" mean mixture screw? Sounds like it but I'm just asking.
Are you getting a nice fat blue spark?
Is there oil in the crankcase?
The apparent "compression" increase could be something else like a seized cam or other internal failure. Without more info, this scenario matches what you described better than carb problems.

Yea, lean because the exhaust was really hot. Fixed that a while back, and it was running a little better, but the exhaust was still hotter than normal.

I don't think it was sucking air through the carb boot.

Yea, I meant the pilot screw. The book calls it that. Not the idle screw.

The spark looks good and oil is good. I have not checked the cam or rocker arms.
