OK, wondering why the decompression cable would be broke on my 83 185s? can you buy a new one? how was the cable supposed to hook up?

you should be able to manually pull back the decomp lever, it will only stay for one pull though. you can start it without the lever all together but if the engine decides to do something funny it will yank the rope back and might hurt your fingers. also it would take more strength, but s 180cc isnt that hard to turn over anyways. id just look up 185s decompression cable for sale you can probably find something. you can order the cable from your local honda dealer i bet, although it would probably be around 25 bucks, maybe more...

I find the decompression cable a big waste of time..it was all corroded on my 350x so I removed it. No problem starting it..though I am a big guy so my weight makes it easy.

The 185 should be pretty easy to start..I'd leave it off.

Check the service manual, starts on page 20-15.

i just had to fix my 200s pull start rope broke, and to hook it all back up right takes some time(its a pain in the as s) the manual i had didnt really help a whole lot it gives you the basic idea of where things go, after it is hooked up in the recoil starter then the cable runs under the carb and there should be a place to the left of the lever(if your looking right at it) that holds the end of the cable casing and then the cable itself goes into the comp lever.
