Quick background: I have a KLT200 and an ATC200S. I use the KLT200 as a true utility ATV to pull a roller, a 60" mower, and a utility wagon. It has a lower first gear and the lockable differential comes in handy to keep from tearing up the grass when making tight turns. We occasionally will have some fun with it around the yard and back a grass lane, but never really take it "back woods" riding and we'd never try to race with it. The ATC is just for fun, and we are going to sell it.

Between the ATC and KLT, we have 3 good Carlisle Trail Pro tires, and I just purchased a set of 4 Cheng Shin C829's that are practically brand new. I'm looking for input on which set I should put on the ATC (to get rid of) and which set I should keep on the KLT (for 95% utility work). I'm leaning towards keeping the C829's to put on the KLT to give a little more cushion on the ride, and I think the knobby pattern will be a little easier on the grass. I will also have a spare tire if I keep the C829's. My main concern is the durability of the Cheng Shin's vs. the Carlisle Trail Pro's. Does anyone have any input and/or experience with these tires long term?

Never mind. I found a couple threads on why everyone hates the trail pros... I guess I'll put those on the ATC200 to sell. :-) Thanks

Just be sure to swap them ONE at a time, they CAN and WILL overpower you if you release more than one at a time, and dont turn your back on them

Trailpros arent all that bad if you cut out the triangle shaped lugs. I did it to a set that came on a 200x I bought. It made quite a difference in the traction department. I am going to put them on my 110 to use on the road for riding back and forth to work. I figure the trailpro will outlast the road.

Well, believe it or not, the rear pair on the ATC200 are down to about 1/2 tread... I'll have to post pictures, or nobody will believe me.

HOLY CRAP! What a difference. I got the Cheng Shins on my ATC200S and the thing is a whole new machine. You guys weren't kidding about how heavy the trail pros are. I'm not worried about performance on my KLT200, since I use it for all utility purposes, so I put the trail pros on that one.

I'm still in amazement how much of a difference it made on the ATC though. The thing is quicker, and it corners like a dream now. Before, I'd feel like I was going to tip to the outside of every turn now matter how hard I leaned, but now I can power through the turn and it feels like the back end squats down, kicks out a little and just plain GOES! Thanks for all the insight on the tire choice.

Yeah Trailpros are the kinda tire that will outlast a nuclear war, best for the utility. Those Cheng Shings I believe are Blaster rear knock offs. In the future if you need new Cheng Shings, check out Kenda Scorpions (I think Kenda makes them) Dirtwheels did a shootout a couple years ago and those Scorpions are about the same as the 289's, but a lot better. I'm not sure if they are still made though.
