I am thinking about puting 86 rear fender on my 84 that i am fixing up. Everything that i read says they will work but have to mod them. What has to be done to make it fit? Does the 84 seat work with it? Does it look right when its done or all janked up? I am starting to get a bit of cash in this build and want it to look right when its done. Thanks guys

This guy in my area has done this. He is selling the new red 86 fenders that have been modded on craigslist for 75.00

i personally think the original fenders look better on the first gen 200x. especially in white.

I am going with white. Had most of the parts powdered candy red and i think the white will look really good. I like the looks of the newer fenders.

White plastics with Candy Apple Red chassis/components, very classy! I think you will be extremely pleased. As far as 86 rears, I personally think 85s would look better. From what I remember its a pain to go puttin 86 rears on an 85, of course I could be wrong. Maybe I'm thinkin of Banshee or Raptor rears on a Tri-Z, that I know isn't a walk in the park.

it should look great. Still have to pick the powder for the front hub, lower forks and swingarm. not sure if I want them to match or something different. so its looking like the easy way to go is to use the stock fenders.

Dont forget about the rear hubs, and possibly handlebars to set it off also. Other overlooked chances for accent color pieces are the rear spring, rear axle, handlebar perches/levers, footpegs, and any little misc bracketry pieces. And may I suggest the accent color be a black with copper or nickel vein running through it.
I used to work at a powdercoating joint and that gloss black with copper or nickel running through it looks sweet.
See if you can find some examples on a powdercoating website.

As of now the frame, tree and rear hubs are red and have the bars, parking brake block off and the brake lines in red with gold ends. I will look into those colors that might be just what it needs. Thanks
