84 200s shifter return spring

well w my slipping problem, ive decided to changed all recomended parts, now im on to the shifter return spring, heres my question, when reinstalled should the spring be positioned where its touching the botton or the top of the case. if any body has delt w this and rebuilt or replaces should know?

and honestly i was being a dumb ass and not paying attention. i was excited to get that far.

darn, I just buttoned one up yesterday or I'd send you pix.

There are free manuals in the 'world class help' section but not sure if they
have that exact picture.
