Looking to lower the rear end of my 86 200x.Not just straping it down.

Shorten the spring, change your linkage points, use a shorter shock..........

Kinda was looking for something I could change out quickly. Was hoping somebody would tell me what shock to look for.I know it is a little early to think about ice racing but that is what I am doing.

Umm the easiest way is to loosen or back off the spanner nut nearly all the way on the rear shock. that'll lower it a bunch. I've done this to my 350x and its by far the easiest way to lower the back end of a trike and still have a little bit of suspension in the rear end. (Which you need.)

You don't necessarily need suspension on the rear for ice racing.

Jam stick in it, but drill both ends :)

Well MAYBE not need. But it sure is nice to have a little on a rutted dirt oval track. And if it were me racing on ice,I'd want a little suspension. I've never raced on ice before, but I'd think the turns would get eaten up by those studed tires. (And the straight aways too a little bit.). But Like I said I've never raced on ice so I may be right or wrong.

I tend not to advise people on issues I've never experienced.

Well I tend to think its good share info and be open minded and learn. And no offence man,but you can tend to be douchebag at times.

Name calling is such a sign of desperation. Next time have a deep breath and walk away for a minute or two.
It doesn't make sense to me that I would be the one in the wrong here. I have ice raced, you have not. You're steering the OP in a direction that you sat back for 20 seconds and thought about and figured would make the most sense to you. I corrected you on incorrect information. I'm the one in the wrong here?
To the OP, you could build a strut which doesn't allow for any suspension travel. It is an option, and it wouldn't be too hard. I have an adjustable strut in my Tecate that allows me to run the shock but I can put the suspension up or down. Obviously the 200X doesn't have that. The idea of lowering the spring all the way doesn't sound like a bad one either. If that doesn't make it low enough a strut or a smaller shock are pretty much going to be your best options.
I believe that has a lower link that the shock attached to on the lower side? Maybe you could pull that out and bolt up the shock direct. I would imagine it would lower it, but it would stiffen up the ride significantly. Like I was saying though, you don't necessarily need rear suspension.

I wish it had a link type suspension. Then I could make up some lowering links.Maybe I can get another 86 200x shock spring and cut it down. That wouldn't be a real toughy to swap out.Just was looking for the easy way out.Ice racing is all new to me.Not that it will be anything competive, but would like to be a little prepared is all.

Try lowering it all the way first. It will only take you a few minutes to do and it might be all you need to do.

shorty... its okay fabio thinks hes a Drill instructor or something... no one knows what goes on in his fantasy mind.. But oval racing ((ice or dirt) Wouldnt it be better for little to no rear suspension to slide it easyer?? Idk I have never oval raced but am thinking of setting my 185s up for it. also fabio... I have been a member here longer then you so you can quit calling everyone newbs... k? kk
