I found a complete front end from a '85 200x without brakes locally..

I thought it would look decent on my '85 250sx.

Is this a direct fit? New stops maybe? Anything else?

Yup, it'll fit. If you use a Clarke tank, you wont have to fab stops

It will bolt right on Doug. All you need to do is weld on some steering stops to prevent the triples from hitting the tank. Easy Peasey. I plan on doing it to my sx, but i first need to find some time... and a 200x front end. Another plus to this swap is having a disk brake on the front.

Just did it to mine.... Stops are the only issue... (pretty minor one at that)

Cool thanks guys..only problem is this front end has no fender and there is nothing but a disc..

Still for $50..

Forks, tree, hub, bearing and rim are all good.

I think you can put a 85/86 250R front fender on there, I forget......

It's a great swap, I did so with some 1.250 long PVC preload spacers (as the front was still kinda like a pogo stick without Viagra)

Do the stops, I made my own on one (cut from a cereal box) and asked in classifieds for a bad frame and had them chop off the neck for the second one I did.

It's a great upgrade.

Cool ideas thanks DC!! I saw the 350x front end one of the guys put on his 250es and it got me thinking about my upcoming plans to do something fun with my SX..

I wonder what your thoughts of the lift kit idea on the shaft drive trikes like the SX/ES? Though I thought it was a cool idea I was concerned about the sharp angle on the ujoints..Ripping them apart!

The kit looks easy to fab for the rear, then install the 250R/200X/350x front end..

How high comfortably could I increase the rear height?

I just completed the same project on my SX but I did mine differently. I wanted to keep my headlight and front racks the same so I changed out the tubes and not the triple tree. After I rebuilt the master cylinder, brake caliper and the fork tubes the rest of the change over took just a couple of hours. I did use the center bearing support from the SX wheel to use as a spacer on each side of the wheel because the SX triple tree is wider then the 200X. I first measured the total distance of spacer I needed (1.660) and divided by 2 (.830) and used a chop off saw to get it close to .830 and finished it off with a bench grinder it was close enough and for the brake caliper I took my dial micrometer to the hardware store and found 2 brass 1/4" pipe nipples that measured a perfect .830
You can see what I did in my youtube video to get a better understanding of the upgrade/conversion.
It was easy and works good!!

Brilliantly done 'wildonewest', the video was a great commentary..

I know exactly what I am going to do with this front end I am getting!! I don't have to worry about the stops, or the missing fender on the 200x front end I found..

That is an excellent way to enjoy the better forks and a disc brake if you can space it correctly. Even the drum could still be used with some custom adapters.....

Thats a great way for the average guy to perform the swap that isn't a big jumper and wants to retain the same steering stops.
