I posted this on 3w.O before 3ww came back up, maybe you guys can help.Hello guys, as the title says I have a 85 200x that is just not running good at all after rebuilding the top half. I took my time went through every part by the manual and now she is setting here hanging on to life, fresh hoan, piston, rings, oem gaskets, valves reseated. I have rebuilt other atv and motorcycle motors so I do have some experiance with the small internal combustion engine but this one has me stumped. When I get it started I have to throttle the gas or she dies and it blows smoke with a strong carbon smell. I have the timing set by the book, some of you honda wizards chime in if you have seen this before please. I am stuck, thanks Jeremy

Do a compression check . Might need a bore instead of a hone . New rings on an out of round bore = low compression .

Thanks shortline, I will try to do a compression test. Would that make it smell like carbon ? It is so bad that I can smell the carbon on my clothes. Thanks for the help Jeremy

The valves were a touch tight and the Carb was cleaned again. It does start easier now but she runs at high rpms and the the motor doesn't react to the idle control. She is missing a touch still also

Small jet is still clogged or your throttle cable it to tight and need adjusting .
