erratic idle, rev when trying to stop , high idle, then die.
wouldn't restart. Dangerous is the best description.

Pulled the coil out of the frame (not fun) and cleaned all the connections and
spark advance plate, weights and springs.
Carb cleaned, of course. new gas tank vented cap that actually works now and allows gas to get TO the carb

cannot, for the life of me, find the main frame ground, if there is one.

I see them all over the place on the wire diagram but nothing real.
also can't imagine the coil is grounded to the frame by the mounting studs
since it's all factory painted.

Maybe it all grounds thru the wire harness? and to the engine and thru the
stator circuit?

anyway, now it starts with 1/4 pull on the rope, idles like a dream
and is STILL *&&^^%$ me off because I don;t know WHY it works.

Is there another support group I can join just for these types of mental problems?

or should I just shut up and start on another trike that is screaming for attention....

I think the coil does ground to the frame. It shows on the diagram and on my 74 where the coil mounts to the frame the black isnt painted around the screw holes on the outside. Its maybe 1/4" square of unpainted metal around the holes.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure it does ground through the coil to the frame... notice all the green wires on the condenser/coil? The points motors frustrate the crap outta me too... glad I have a bunch of CDI ones to ride while I work on the points ones!
