I'm getting ready to put my motor together and have never done this before. My question is that when i split the case one of the bearings stayed on the crank and one stayed in the case half. I'm am going to re-use the bearings because they only have about 7-10 hours on them. So the question is how do i get the bearing back in the case? Should i freeze it and heat the case the way i would if i was putting new bearings in or can i just press it together? I tend to think i probably can't just press it in cause all the pressure would be on the inside of the bearing, not the outside where its needed. Any advice is appreciated.

the one that stays on the crank will press into the case with very little effort and the one that stays in the case won't need to be pressed in just tap the case half on with a rubber mallet. if you need a hand I will be by there on friday

While you have it apart did you replace all the seals too. I made that mistake and didnt do the drive shaft seal because it wasnt leaking and put everything back together and now ...well Im sure you can figure out the rest. I got in a hurry and just wanted to ride, thats the price for my stupidity I guess!

Thanks Ben. I think i'll give it a go myself, kinda like a right of passage for a man. haha. I'f i have any problems i'll send you a text or give you a call.

Thanks for the advice 84t3. I'll replace all the seals that i can without removing any bearings. I had the bottom end done 5 years ago but like i said, it has very few hours on it. This bike probably won't run too much if at all once anyways.

I put the bearing in a bowl of ice and it droped right in with a little love from a rubber hammer, Heat the case with a heat gun just be carefull of the seal on the other side of the crank brg its right there dont melt it.

Well, the crank sat in the freezer for 3 days due to an unrealistic sense of time. Finally, around 11 tonight i threw the case half in the oven set to 190. Had a beer, forgot about my project, realized what was going on at 11:37, ran to the kitchen and slammed the two together. The bearing went in perfect with a little tap of my hand, couldn't believe how easy it was. Hopefully monday i'll get the bottom end together and get some pics up. Thanks for the help fellas
