The CDI's will fail, but it is not to common for them to fail with a stator.
Usually if that condition happens where both failed, it would be because of a short of some sort, or messing with adding the wrong lighting system. I did see one case where LED's were added to a quad and took out the stator and CDI.
The 85 CDI's are there own animal on the trike, with a single round plug. If that is bad, make sure you get a 85 CDI. No others will work unless you update to a 86 wire harness, then you can swap the quad stuff all day long. All The 250R stators are all swappable though.

Did you just loose all spark, or is the bike not reving right?

I've seen some pretty cool stuff and cross referenced parts and connectors on
dratv aka beatrice cycle in nebraska.

There is also a scary website called
sunLpartsonline that has cdi units starting at 60 CENTS.
Don't forget the "L" in the middle of the address.

awwww it's over 90 degrees outside and I got NOthin' better to do.

Gotta keep my triker friends safe and happy.

Plus, doing this keeps me from feeling guilty about doing 'nothing'.

If I go outside, there are 100 things that will scream at me for attention.

125 m need it's gearbox torn down, gotta go look at another one for parts
and some 20 ga shells to reload LIGHT for a side by side.

so here I am, getting away with nothing, again.

Good luck man.
