I bought a new coil for my big red... the old coil that was on there has two wires that clip to two dinferent prongs. My new one only has one clip... the wires are green and the other black.... The new coil looks like it goes to the bike because it matches up with the bolt holes. the other coil had a make shift bracket.... Wich wire plugs into the new coil, and what do I do with the other??? Here is a pic of the coil I took off, and the new one sold for this bike... Can some one give me a hand?

Hi

Most I've seen have one wire off the coil but I'll go look outside
in a bit. You may get the right answer before I get back too.

There are free manuals with wire diagrams in the world class help
section.
With honda, they seem to make changes every year, just enough to
have to memorize a few different diagrams.

That is to be bolted on,therefore grounding it..Hot will go on the tab. Getting the right coil isn't hard, they're all over the place. lol,,Good luck!

How/why did you 'need' a coil?

Did this trike ever run that you've actually seen or is it a new non runner for you?

No spark condition...uuuggggg.
Some people have replaced entire wire harnesses only to admit that the old ones
were probably ok but the machines work because they had to go over
EVERY connection.

Frame grounds are famous for corroding.

Pls keep us posted.

Yes this bike ran perfect... I shut it off one day, and it wouldnt start back up..... It would start and die, start and die... didnt stay running but for a couple secs.... I pulled the plug to see if it was sparking, and I would notice a real weak spark the first crank and then nothing... I can hold the plug in my hand and feel nothing... So i bought this new coil hooked it up and still no spark at all... The lectric start works great, so i should feel a hell of a jolt.. I dont know....
What else could stop it from firing??? I have no clue.... I will get a manel, but I thought it could be a no brainer fix for some of you, and just trying to pick your brains a little.

Black wire goes on the tab as the hot and green is ground .

I just tried that Mike.. Still nothing???/ The starter is turning the bike over great. the head light works. I'm not sure.. I didnt know if there was a fuse or something else that could make it not fire...

ok OK!

I'm officially having 200es flashbacks.

I had 2 side by side , one worked and one didn't spark.

Had the luxury of changing KNOWN working parts back and forth and the one es
would NOT SPARK.
rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
(with the electric start)

I took the battery out of it, advertized it on cl
TOTally aggravated and for some reason, I yanked the rope as a final farewell and the S O B started right up.

in other words, NO spark using the starter but great spark with the pull rope.

neutral safety switch?

did you say runs for a min?
sounds like fuel and if you can get it to stay running with supershort spritzes of starting fluid??
then again no spark. except for a couple seconds.

Yupp same as my es. a hair puller for sure.
intermittent sticky neutral safe sw?

You have ALL my sympathy.
and now I need a break from doing nothing.

It was bad man, I gave both of them both away after that.

Any spark using pull rope? NOT the starter!

I've also mis"placed" the kill switch on accident by
holding the left handlebar while yanking on the freakin' rope a million times.

Iced tea, some shade to work in and check all frame grounds and connections.
...and a gf that wants to "talk" will usually get one motivated.

or go thru your arrowpoint collection for a few minutes.
Might clear your head for a fresh perspective.
