What, pray tell,
or why can't they find a better description for
13 inches of rain and flooding with 1,000 bridges out and 100,000
people evacuated?

How's it going there btw?

Is it calming down yet?

We are drying out,,always the most beautiful weather After the storm! Rain today!! I tried posting a new thread yesterday with pics of our farm. We have a 1/2 mile driveway,,it was gone. 2 bridges, they were gone. Pond overflowed for days, thru where the driveway was : ) Our kids will be on the bus towards 2 hours EACH way WHEN school reopens. There are NO roads left a lot of places. It is bad,but what can you do? I have the driveway built back, another 2 full days,I'll be caught up with the flood damage. Bingamton NY ,Apalachin,, A good portion of them were under water. Montoursville PA,,etc,,all our surrounding towns were washed away. We are high and dry compared to them. I cannot get my pics again. They are in my album on Photobucket.

Portions of our driveway. It's all fixed now ;),,ok,,well,we can get in and out. It's not leveled at the edges. Or reseeded. Yes,that's our phone and internet wires. We never lost them or our satellite security. And only lost power a total of 4 hours thru the entire 3 days! Hats off to our local powerline guys !

wow
thanks for posting those.
Does your silo still look vertical?

Weather channel is also predicting more, seems more like Baltimore tho.

Nice that your power stayed up and running.
It makes sense that most new electrical stuff stays underground.
When our power goes out, the land line phone usually still works.

I even resorted to 'dial'up' last week. Forgot all about that option.
With the power out, I simply plugged the phone line into the computer modem
and went immediately back in time.
I keep juno active just for that, but forgot I had it.

There are also a ton of free dial up services avail, and juno has one too.

They started almost before the internet when modem speeds were a whopping 9600, and then went to 28.8.

But sure nice to have the option.

I remember the tornado in OK city 8-9 yrs ago .
We could NOT get thru to the kids by phone or cell phones
but email DID work for some reason.

W channel shows a bullseye near Harrisburg PA just this second.
The whole east coast looks like a great big windshield wiper blade.
Warnings Trenton, Phili, and Baltimore or whatever those yellow rectangles mean.

Ya know?

A silver lining might just be gold with all that fresh gravel and sediments being exposed for the first time.

There are smatterings of gold all over the east coast.
No real veins or mother lode necessarily but lots came down from Canada
with the glaciers.

I'd be real tempted to get into those drainages with a pan and look for magnetic black sands.

Who knows? There may just be a pocket of flakes and pancake nuggets just waiting for you to find them.

miningold.com/states/pa.html has a nice writeup on PA

Calling a flood "excessive moisture" is like calling an illegal alien an "undocumented immigrant".

Excessive Moisture............sounds like the name of a cheesy 80s adult flick.

Come on Brian, get a kayak and have at it!

Seriously though, you have my sympathies, if I was closer I'd be down there helping you clean up.
