Sweet i have an 85.
Change and check Gear Oil.!!!

Advantage i think..
They go anywhere, I jump the trailprotrailprotrailprotrailpro out of mine, Good for pulling, Hills Great all out fun..
Enough speed, built tough! they run hard and long.

Disadvantage is alot i think. I will just name some i know in the time i had mine..

Their Heavy!! Real heavy. Rain and water get into the Drive Shaft area. I Covered mine with extra duck tape and a bag to keep more water out.
depends how yours was treated, Check the swingarm bolt and lock nut. Their a Pain to get out sometimes. If they are caked with Sludge and rusty.
More then likely your Bearings will need replaced. The Bearing outer race gets Rusty and Very hard to get out!! I left my old ones in.

Hard to work on with just one guy and average joe tools.

Check your front axle also, When i got mine i tore the front end off and greased the axle real good after cleaning it.
Alot of these have Cheap ass carbs and jets also..

The 86-87 250sx have a much better sealing rear end that helps keep the water out vs the 1985 model.

IMO, 250sx is basicly a sport version of the 250es Big Red. bad part like stated above, they're heavy, maybe not as much as a Big Red, but not much less.
sounds like you did good, but please post some pics. :beer

250ES and 250SX both kick azz!!!

My recommendation is to have one of each..I do!!

These are 2 of the three most desireable trikes..350x is the third. Not necessarily in that order..

I know this is gonna start a schit-storm!!! ...blah, blah, what about the 250R.

I stand my ground!! Good score..now start looking for the other 2..

Next time bring pics for show and tell..the whole class wants to see!

You'll sell your R's as soon as you get a 250es and 350x..your world will be complete and you would need the 2strokes anymore!! ;)
