I have a pretty stout 84 250R and I run 14-42 in the dunes, sometimes 14-40 in the trails, and 15-38 for ice racing. Tire size will affect gearing as well. I would say with 20" tires, and 14-40 gearing you would be in an ideal spot for various types of riding with the 300 kit. But sprockets are relatively cheap so if you don't like try a different ratio. I have read that it is best to use the biggest front sprocket reasonable to fully utilize the engine's power and then make gearing changes in the rear. So a 14-40 would give you more top end and you shouldn't be snapping through the gears as fast. If it's still not enough top end go to a 15-40. If that's not enough go to a 15-38. Or so goes the logic :) Hope this helps!

14 Front / 38 Rear to tall for my type of riding, but you get more top speed.

ok cool since i do mostly ride on dirt roads and such i dont ever stay in 1-3rd gear much at all unless im turning around/drifting :D so more top speed is key
