ok this is the first time i have tryed to rebuild a motor and having some probs. i had the cylinder bored and put in a .20 pro x piston. other than that didnt do anything else. the reason for the rebuild was it had groves in the cylinder and was smoking bad. i used a metal head gasket and was told not to put the o-ring seal on the locating dowel. put it all back and it would not start. tryed to bump start and nothing. there is oil coming in the exhaust. so i thought maybe i put the cam in upside down and fliped it. still wont start and when we tryed to bump it it spit out alot of oil in the exhaust and made a churping noise. going to pull the motor back out tonight. anyone have any ideas on what i did wrong?

Just wondering, did u get new Rings? Or use the old? Also the piston goes in a certain way. Not really sure, I am positive some1 will have some ideas soon, Takes a little bit. Have patients and also do u have the manual.? There is an online one here in World class help section.
Also did you double check your timing?

take it apart again and put the oring in. I have never had a 200x engine apart but I'm sure that oring seals an oil galley. I'm not sure who said not to use it,if its there its there for a reason. sounds like oil is leaking into the cylinder and out the exhaust so I'm sure your plug is oil soaked as well

Oil coming to the top end to lubricate is shooting out the exhaust..this is a problem.

Did you flat edge check the head and at least visual the head for any problems with the valves/springs???

Definitely an installation issue..take it apart. Triple check your work and put it back together. Did you use the manual to make sure your valve timing is spot on? Did you compression test and what are the numbers?

Ok i will do a compresstion test when i get home. What should it be? Yes i do have the book but its the timing that not sure about. I think its right but not really for sure. Plan right now is to take it bacj apart tonight to see if i forgot something or anything looks off. Oh and i will put the o-ring in and see if that helps.

compression should be anywhere from 150 psi and up. Im pretty sure the o ring isnt required with the metal head gasket i could be wrong. On a side note what year 200x because last time i checked Pro X doesnt offer a piston for 1st gen only 2nd I guess it could be a 200s piston just thinking out loud

Its a 84 200x and it is a nos pro x piston. They have not made them in a few years took me forever just to find out the comp ratio on it.

I got the motor pulled and getting ready to tear into it. Does anyone know for sure if i am to install the o-ring when putting in a metal head gasket?

Yes it needs to be in there, it doesnt matter what the head gasket is made of.
