Need advice from the shock rebuilders

So, I took my old works shock apart to replace the rod seal. It was bone dry! I've never rebuilt a shock before so I need to know how much oil to put back in it. Do you fill it all the way up or ??? Will fork oil work? It goes on the back of a Honda 185s bolt on kit and will just be used for putting around. Nothing hard. All advice will be appricated.

fill her up. fork oil is fine if you use a light weight oil. you will need to have it charged if its a gas shock
