Moved from Reno to Washoe Lake/Valley last week. Pretty awesome location, just a few miles east of the Sierra Nevadas, I'm surrounded by miles upon miles of rugged trails that wind thru some pretty scenic Northwestern Nevada mountains. Best of all, I can ride to these areas from my house!:Bounce:w00t:

Went for a good ride yesterday, thought I'd share some pics and a video.

Sorry about the lousy video quality, my camera is kinda crappy, but the pics are better. :pics:

The 200X is still running strong and hasn't leaked a drop of oil since I replaced the burnt exhaust valve, honed the cylinder, lapped the valves, de-carboned the top-end, and replaced the head and cylinder gaskets. It does idle fine, I just forgot to switch the fuel petcock to the on position when I started it in the video. Dammit Also, in the video some of my narration is garbled, and what I said was that right over the the Sierras to the west is Lake Tahoe, about a 40-50 minute drive away.

I admit most of the trails are pretty rocky, and aren't the best for triking, but there are plenty of sandy sections to slide the rear end on, and also a few dirt bowls, one flat track (that I know of so far), and some interesting sand and gravel pits to play in too. Here are some pics of a surreal looking red gravel pit I found. I believe it is that red volcanic lava rock commonly sold at landscaping supply places.

Love your new playground..pretty damn cool!

You don't disappear into this riders utopia on a 25 year old machine alone I hope?? You need a riding buddy!!

Ever seen '127 Hours'?

I'm envious, but at the same time a little worried for you brother!!

Appreciate your concern Doug, and I definitely do need a riding buddy (not only safer, but a funner experience as well), but even though there's lot's of room to ride around here, you're really never too far from civilization (probably no more than 10 miles I'd say). Breaking down and having to walk out would not constitute a life-threatening situation, however getting hurt out here all by yourself easily could. Thankfully, cell phone reception here is good due to the countless communication towers located on the mountains out here, but in the meantime when I ride alone I try to play it cautious.

For instance, I reallllllly wanted to go play in that red lava rock pit, but it was blocked off pretty good; I knew there had to be a way in somewhere based on the presence of all the quad and dirtbike tracks, and after a little bit of searching I stumbled across it, a steep, soft at the bottom, narrow ramp about 10'-15' high. I speculated that I could probably make it in or out, but being by myself I decided it wasn't worth the risk.

One of the cool things about living in the great state of Nevada: so much of it is undeveloped government owned BLM "wasteland", and you're allowed much greater freedom to use it compared to many other places. I've lived in California most of my life, and although I miss it dearly, I don't miss a lot of the rules and restrictions that go along with that place. Doubt there's many areas you could do this in Cali.

'84T3: Don't know, I'm not a fisherman, but there's a store that sells bait nearby, so I assume someone's catching something out there. From what I've been told, it's a really shallow lake, probably less than 6' deep, so nobody boats on it, but there is a state park near the lake with lots of campgrounds and trails.

oldskool83: Agreed, I would like to upgrade the rear tires.
