Its a fixer up er all there with good plastic but needs the typical rope seat and will not start. Bought it so the wife could have something to ride...just getting the 81 200 i bought to fix up going so might as well add another to work on lol.
Do the 125's have decent power and what does the M stand for? Sure its been answered countless times but a search didnt reveal anything.

Manuals are great, free is good
and the original owners manuals are fun to read.
I think they're posted on the front page here.
I just got my first m and it sure seems like
the 90/110 types but with front brake and electric start.
It's got some sort of aux trans on the side like an 84 bigred
but but a safe assumption is I know nothing more about it.
I do know the 110's are plenty power.
They'll pull my full sized truck across the driveway.
I wonder if the 125 has any special issues.
Yupp, get a real rope from a bike shop, go thru the carb and there's a good chance it will
go

I thought the "M" trikes were electric start so maybe M = motorized?

i think they all have motors though right? then again they basicly all have manual shift too. only other option i see would be it stands for Medium then, but can't see why?
yeah you got it drjoe, they're they same as 90/110, but basicly a bigger piston, hi/low sub trans and elec. start. :beer
don't worry Motorious, i usually don't. :beer

On the 125M atc's, do you need a battery hooked up to the bike in order for the front headlight to turn on?

nope, if wiring is good then all you need to do is start it to have power to the lights. they won't be regulated though without the battery, so you'll get the low rev dimming. you only need the battery for elec start and lights when not running.

I always thought they all have "engines" but that's just me being a smart### ;)

One difference I know of between the 125m and ATC110 other than the obvious, is that the 110 has a 4-up shift pattern and the 125m has the 4-down pattern like a 185s.....cant remember what the 200s had....

The M is for MMMMMMMMMM
LOL! That's what those in the know say!
By the way... the sweet thing about '86/'87 MMMM's.... they have reverse! Works off the left brake lever, just like a 250es. M is a designation for electric start, as in 125m, 200m. Don't know that the "m" actually means anything though...

my 85 is 4 up, not sure about the 84's. 86-87? 5 up.
hmm, M for Electric. :wondering who knows, i had a thread asking about those kinds of designations for the differant makes/models, but nothing really became of it.

My '84 125m is 4 down pattern. I wish it had reverse!!! I always wondered what any of the letter designations meant on the models. Be it the M, or S, or X or R... Does the original owner's manual state this?
Also Manns....I'm almost 300lbs. And the 125 has plenty of power. It rips very well with me on it.

85's you can swap the hi/low gears for the 125TRX hi/rev gears. should be able to on the 84's also. :beer

I'm guessing the TRX is a quad? Sounds like alot of work. What all is needed to complete a swap?
Jon Boy

yeah the 85 125trx quad
would have to search because i'm not certain, but i think just the hi/low gearbox assembly.

No problem learning a lot. Picked up the 125M and it was a little rougher than I had hoped for but with a jumper on the battery the motor turns over good. It just needs a lot fixed I didnt expect ....brake cables headlight taillight air cleaner box is gone sure I'll be doing another carb rebuild and chasing a no spark issue like I just got thru doing on my 81 200. It also has rust in the tank and has been coated with the Kreme coating or whatever it is. Looking into cleaning the tank out now as far as what works best and what product to use to recoat it.
But hey just a hill for a mountain climber when it comes to stuff like this....lol. I enjoy working on stuff and tinkering. Thanks for all the input and help!

Ya I've been thru Mt. carmel many times. We used to go to the car auction over there...Glad to hear your close!
About to go nuts chasing down a problem on my 81 200 now. Posted another thread about it but rebuilt the carb and got it running for a couple weeks. Run fine when I run it down the road saturday night got up sunday morning and it made it halfway across the yard and died. Will start up and idle but stalls even when trying to throttle up slowly. Just drained the tank blew thru the new fuel filter made sure it was clear poured new gas and put a new plug...still doing the same thing. Any ideas where to look next?

id say spark plug even if it is 1 day old to 7 years old they can go out with no sign of why...
