I like the setup and thatll come in handy, no doubt! As far as the battery, Im sure itll take some life away but everything has a price, Id say its worth it unless your going through a substantial amount of them. Keep us posted

Hey, I'm not sure what you have in there for a battery, But your probably going to want a non-maintenance gel pack. A winch, especially under load creates massive draw on a battery, hence creating bubbles in the acid, which in turn reduce surface area of the plates and induces an almost immediate drop in accessible voltage... That's why after cranking a car over that won't start will rather abruptly stop cranking, but if you wait a few moments it suddenly has the power to once again turn the motor ( the bubbles are no longer hogging the plates ). The winch will do the same thing, But Gel pack batteries are very good at avoiding the bubble thing... hope that helped and wasn't something you already knew. Sincerely.

I have been running the winch on my BR for 2+ years... All winter long, and am yet to have any problems with it... I just have the standard Parts Unlimited replacement for the ES...

i just put one on mine to. Nice......... Have you had any battery issues?? Mine is wired into the key circuit as to not drain battery. I ran it in and out a few times and it smoked my battery. It is 3 years old though?? Gonna get a new battery and hopefully be in business. I know these winches put an extreme load on batteries and hear if they are a tad weak or old........bye bye.

^^ Wow... Smoked the battery that soon?? I have been running the snot out of mine, all winter long plowing, and am still on the same battery... I get pretty hard on mine too. I have mine wired straight off the battery though... (not that it would change anything)

There is a difference from wiring it to the key circuit and to your battery, if your wiring heavy gauge wire into small gauge wiring your going to have a problem! Wire it straight to your battery with the same gauge wire that's supplied With the winch.

My battery was a few years old already.......wouldnt even take a 2 amp charge overnight. Gonna get a new one today and try it.
