Well, If you read my post about the cooling system problem I had, then you would know that I think my main bearings and seals bit the dust. The transmission oil is dissapearing at an alarming rate (some leaks from underneath, but not that much). When I had the bike running after I put more tranny fluid in it, I took the tranny oil cap off, and the oil was trying to bubble up and out of the hole. The weirdest part was that I use a bright red tranny oil, and this looks exactly like chocolate milk. Also, there is a lot of sludge coming out of were the expansion chamber is connected to the cylinder (more than usual). I would also like to know if the 80-88 yz 250 style main bearings and seals will fit the tri-z, and the bearing for the bottom of the connecting rod, if not where do I a good set of them? Also, I need to find out were I can get all of the oil seals, and gaskets to rebuild the ENTIRE bottom end, does vesrah, wiseco, or moose make kits for the bottom end?

You've got a leaking waterpump seal!!!!!

Really? I have not noticed the coolant dissapearing, and it is still blue (I use engine ice), wouldnt the tranny fluid get into my cooling system too?

Nosir. Reason for that is (I remember from TimSr telling me this), is that the cooling system is positive pressure, and the tranny is negative pressure. Therefore, the coolant pushes out. I noticed mine going away too, but only ever so slightly.

Where is my tranny oil going? Into the cylinder? That cant be good when the coolant is getting in there too. Well I am going to have my mechanic rebuild the entire bottom end, any idea where to get all the oil seals, gaskets, and bearings?

What is a rough estimate for what it might cost to get my entire, and I mean entire bottom end rebuilt? (gaskets, seals, bearings, bushings)

You can get the gaskets from Dennis Kirk.

Ive seen nothing you posted that would indicate you need a complete bottom end rebuild. Start with the simple things. Your milky oil is due to water in it, and if you havent been crossing streams, its the water pump seal. If youre loosing oil, and you keep finding a puddle under it, fix the leak before trying to guess what portion is leaking and what portion is burning. If your crank bearings are bad, replace them, if the are not, Id leave them alone. If your crank seal is leaking on the clutch side, it will suck oil into the top end, with the result being huge amounts of billowing smoke that get worse as the machine gets hotter. Are your lower rod bearings bad? They are easily checked for play, and should be, every time you have the top end off. Last time I had a crank rebuilt, it was couple hundred bucks. Not a cheap thing to do out of boredom. make sure theyre bad, first. Replace the impeller seal, and figure out specifically where your oil is leaking from before throwing several hundred dollars at the bottem end. Rod bearinsg and crank bearinsg have nothing to do with losing oil.

Youll also get better continuity of responses if you stick one one thread instead of starting new threads on related problems. Just a suggestion.

The last owner, (or last 5 owners I dont know), really beat the hell out of the machine,so I figured Id get everything rebuilt to make the bike run like it used to. Here a couple of things that tell me this bike was neglected, swingarm bearings were non existant(all chewed up), j-b weld everywhere, had the stock piston and cylinder at stock bores, no air box with a half arse pod filter that didnt even have the rubber seal on it (big holes in it too), and the rear suspension, (lets not even go there), and I cant even imagine the insid of the tranny. I searched the internet and estimated parts would be about 170$, and my mechanic said that to do my bottom end it would take about 3-4 hours, at 30$ an hour. The tri-z is my favorite bike (Id rather ride it than drive a car), so I figured lets get it in good shape again.
