Well I got tired of messing with the junk oem carb on my Tecate and began the search for a replacement. As I began to search ebay I remembered I had a 38mm PWK on the shelf with a new cable and an extra thumb throttle from a 250r.

The PWK came off of a lightly ported 250r and it ran flawlessly. I pulled it apart to check and make sure everything was in place and clean and then began to install it on the bike. Swinehart's intake boot worked awesome and the oem air box fit over the 38mm bell no problem. I ran the cable, installed the thumber, and made sure everything worked as it should. I put the fuel line on it and gave it a kick and it fired right up and idled perfect.

Next was test run. I took off up the road and let it warm up. Once warm I let into it and it ran its Butt off. I might have a little needle work to do, but it was night and day better then the junk Mikuni that was on there. I didn't get a chance to do an acurate plug chop but its still nice and dark brown so I think its close.

I now have Keihin carbs on all of my bikes from the Dual 28's on the Banshee, the 34 Pj on the TRX, to the 39mm PWK on the ATC. No more Mikuni's for me.

Hmm... must have been a bad Mikuni. My sleds fun flatslide Miks with no issues whatsoever. Glad you like your Keihin though. My 38 Airstryker works well. :beer

The newer Mikunis are fine. I have had a few flat sliders with another Banshee I had and they worked great. This one just needed to much work and I was tired of messing with a 26 year old carb. It needed needle & seat, floats, the choke was wore out, and the body was cracking around the float bowl lip.

It was time. Not necessarily the carbs fault, but more like father time and too many hands have not been kind to it.

I have weeded all the mikunis from my collection as well. I have nothing against them other than all the tm's I've had all had worn slides. I mostly do it so all my bikes can share my jet selection.

Now all of them use the same stuff.

Dan I have a problem remembering yesterday let alone over a year ago. I wish I could tell you but that was on another bike and I can't remember for the life of me.

I like working on the pwk better but can't bring myself to replace the mikuni and twist throttle on the tecate. My old mikuni sure works well with my setup and the twist throttle will put you on your back in a blink of a eye if you are not careful.
