Hey guys Im new to the forum, but not new to trikes. I just finished restoring my 85 honda 350x. But I cant seem to keep the rear axle fade nut tight. I know they are L.H.T. and I jam them together as tight as I can get them with two pipe wrenches. After a few hours of riding sure enough the jam nut will be backed off the spanner nut. Ive been tempted to jam them together and then tack weld the two together. Ive found this one on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/400ex-300ex-locking-fade-nut-250r-axle-RAD-350X-lock-nut-/190566709507?pt=Motors_ATV_Parts_Accessories&hash=item2c5ea93903 Im curious if anybody has tried one of these and had any luck, or had any luck with any other aftermarket fade nut. Or if anybody has any other sort of tip or trick to keep this damn thing fro backing off. Thanks

Welcome to the site.
Before I would weld a tack try some thread locker with the correct dry time. Are the threads damaged? I used to have this problem on my quadracer.

buy a new locking nut, why mess with a 26 year old locking nut, its seen it life span. my friends 05 450r comes loose after a hard ride. i had given him my posi lock nut, never came loose anymore. he also ran loctite on his oem nut and it comes loose. oem honda lock nuts are junk, either then come loose or freeze tight.

If you don't want to buy a posi locknut try the loctite but they come in different strengths. Let it dry good and see what happens. Never had a problem with mine.
