Hello everyone My name is Corey. I just bought a 1982 Kawasaki KLT 250 3 wheeler. It was having Problems when i first got it.. But anyway. I own a 4 wheeler. But found this 3 wheeler here local and could not pass it up. didnot think much was wrong with it. Well i must have been wrong or stupid.. I am so much a newbie on working on these things. But anyway i was hopeing i could get some help..
Person that had it before me stated the CGI had been replaced. But it was Fouling out plugs.. Well I have had it running was it was running off a old 1971 Ford Ignition and Coil.. But was still fouling plugs after about 3 mins of running..... Now i am thinking something is Just plain wrong. My stator is only putting out 3volts. I have no idea what it needs to put out.. I am getting 5 volts to the coil. But no fire. i am getting Less the 0.20 volts coming from the Coil... No spark.. I am sure this thing is Missing something. I have searched the internet until i am blue in he face and i cant Find any Picture. Wiring Diagrams. Nothing on this KLT 250..
I again know it Runs .. first 3 mins with the Ford setup Runs like a New one.. I have never did what i thought was a test on the CGI box.. its getting power to it.. But i dont think the stator is putting out enough power.. Dont a system like this need to be hooked to the battery.. or am i wrong?
Any infomation will be great.. I have been trying to figure this thing out for the past 2 weeks.. its makin me pull my hair out LOL... I just dont want to go and start buying parts i dont need.. I really think something is hooked up wrong. or the Wiring is wrong somehow.. Its just not getting enough power.. 3 volts just will not run a 12 volts system.
