I just picked up a 200x with a 200s motor in it. Motor is solid and runs well but the shifter is really loose, maybe like a spring or something is missing. The tranny shifts good, so not sure what the issue is? Any ideas?

Also I will be posting pictures because it also has a custom swing arm to convert it to a fat cat. Not sure if I'm going to leave it a trike (has wider axle) or put the other swinger on it. It also came with a spare 200s bottom end and the complete original x motor minus piston.

Look up your fiche on Bike bandit or get a manual. Make sure all your linkage (if you have any, I don't know this trike) is tight. A typical engine has at least a two way return spring on the shift shaft and sometimes a smaller spring on the linkage that moves the shift drum, but that one should not have an effect on how your lever feels. Old engines can wear out and be damaged in some strange places. You'll have to give it a good inspection. Can't help you beyond this as the inner workings of Hondas have always bewildered me. It's like they go out of their way to make things complicated. Have fun.

I'm kind of tore on what I should do with it. It's got a plus 2 axle so it's real wide right now, but I always wanted a fat cat. Problem is they are hard to find. I was thinking about selling one of the rears cause I know someone would be interested in either a widen rear axle or fat cat conversion, just not sure which one I want more.

Well i highly doubt that its your inner workings for the shifting problem, anyhoo an improperly adjust clutch would make it feel like you have a ''loose'' shifter... i had gotten some pretty beaten down bottom ends that had the same issue, to adjust: right side crank case cover has a 14mm nut and a flat head screw driver bolt, loosen to lock nut and turn the driver bolt ''counter clockweise'' untill you feel reseistense'' untill you feel your clutch'' then turn it 1/4 turn clock weise and your set.

I have a Yamaha auto clutch so I'm aware of the adjustment. Granted it may need this done, I still believe there has to be something to hold the linkage tight. It shifts just fine just feel like it doesn't have anything to bring the shifter back once it's shifted besides gravity. It's almost like how the brake has a spring that sits and pulls the pedal back. I know there isn't one of these on the outside but didn't know if there was something similar on the inside where it shifts.

why not have two separate swing arms. One for the fat cat and one for the trike so you can swap it from a 3 to a 2 wheeler on the fly ? Just my 2¢. BTW who is the chick in that pic ?

Oh I don't know, I figure honestly I'll probably use one more than the other and why hassle with swapping it out if I can make a bit of cash to re-invest in the trike. Just a thought thought I may keep it. The chick is Scarlett Johansson.
