So I picked up this 185 that has been sitting in a shed for 5 years..
Carb full of varnish, gas tank fouled, oil black as pitch..
So I start cleaning, 1st carb, then drain tank and flush, change the oil..but then wait?? Where the hell did my compression go? I knew I felt compression when I pulled it over when checking it at the sellers place..
Gauge test showed..40PSI - WTF..poured oil in cylinder, spray WD in the intake and boom back up to 150. Sticking valve I guess!!
So ran it for 15 minutes around the yard, checked and adjust cam chain, idle speed...
Then all of a sudden it started farting and backfiring out the carb..must be that sticky valve again.
So I pushed in the shop and closed the door..had enough for today.
My question..which of the many wonder products should I use to lube the valves that have been sitting for over 5 years? My old school thought says just dump some transmission fluid into the crank..overfill a bit and run it a while. Then drain and replace the oil..but I know there is better stuff now...
Is this where that Seafoam comes in?
