Very Nice, You got that off craigslist in the Arlington, wa area right? If so I saw it too and was thinking about getting it too. Glad it went to a good home. I might have a pull starter assembly that needs a rebuild. Let me go check.

I will think about it. I might just cut up a old bicycle frame and weld into a sweet custom grab bar, then drill holes to bolt it on. Good price though! Ill keep it in mind.

Looking good, and you got it for a good price too. Are you pretty handy at recovering seats? I like the little kicker of foam at the back. I sent a PM to Mrs Mosh to inquire about fixing mine up. Where did you find a new head? If you find yourself with two pull starts somehow, I could really use one.

I have an electric start CT70 motor in the classified section that would be cool in a 70 if you can find a place to put the battery. Build is coming right along there. Keep us posted with the progress.

Okay, lots of progress today.
Got the engine completely rebuilt, timed, and valves set.
It seems, when you tighten the 4 cylinder head nuts, that they just keep tightening endlessly.
Im afraid of wrecking something by keep on tightening.
Not stripped of course, they just seem to take forever to tighten all the way down to the required ftlbs.
Anyway, heres what i did today.

After that I cleaned it up and took the rockers out and the cam and replaced it with my lower hour cam and rockers.
Then put everything together

Looks good with those tires! right???
But now...I have to take the carb off and one engine bolt nut, because i forgot the airbox. Haha.
So do i keep tightening the nuts on the head till i get the specified 8 ft lbs? Or what..
Thanks guys.

Gotta get this baby done!

11-08-2011, 09:50 PM
Okay, used some gasket stuff on the carb because i didnt have a gasket, and waiting to put that back on the trike.
Also am looking for some sealant where the carb intake boot connects to the airbox because of course that isnt held anymore.
Bought a half link because the chain is so stretched out the tensioner can't pick up the slack.
Still trying to get a front tire!
Nylon seat fabric is here, just need to make templates, then sew up a seat.
Fuel filters are here, so the fuel system is ready.
Getting near a startup! Need that front tire!
Small update,
brake shoes came yesterday, and i got glue for my seat.
Nice job on your build. Actually the first gen 70's had a "spoiler" built into the seat foam.
I will give you a nickles worth of free advice, and anyone else thinking about doing this.
DO NOT USE GLUE ON YOUR SEAT.
DO NOT USE GLUE ON YOUR SEAT.
Unless you want to buy new foam everytime you need a new cover. If your cover is made and installed properly, you will not need glue to make it lay flat.
350xx
11-09-2011, 03:25 PM
I ended up taking that giant spoiler off, it just wasnt practical.
The glue was to hold the spoiler on, not for any other purposes.
Thanks for the advice, but i would never do that.

Yeah i took it out in first gear just in the driveway but it is still pouring rain so i had to come back in. Runs great.
I wrap a tie strap around the flywheel and in 1 pull with no choke it starts!

SO got her going again today.
I found out that she will start if i put her in fourth, then push her 5 feet, then shift back to neutral and warm her up.
Gotta love auto clutches.
Therefore, I am going to put the chain cover, and side cover on, get her all sealed up, and make a little block off cover where the pull start goes.
Here she is now.

And im going to set up a little trials course sometime. (notice my gf said i lost a point? Because i told her before that i was going to do a trails thing and putting a foot down gets points lost.)

It's my decision whether to wear a helmet or not when im 1 inch off the ground.
Thanks for reminding me about the community sort of...safe-promotion though.
I know there are a lot of bad riders and haters out there trying to ban trikes.
I was being safe. :]
Not so sure about my gf though. If i dont wear a helmet, she thinks she doesn't have to...haha. Girls.
I dont know if i will get another.
The only ones near here are 1000 and like 800.
Next time i will gear completely up for a 10 minute put around the yard. And i will use my go pro.
Then i will be hands free, and fully protected.
See what you say then. hahaha.
