Me and my brother both have 85/86 250 big reds and at least once a year and they only really get rode hard 2 to 3 time a year any more  Any ways we are allways putting on rear shoe cause they corrode between the shoe and material and the brake material keeps falling off we are using EBC shoes and they sit in a heated shop ( the drums arn't full of mud)This is getting bad. I saw the disk conversion in another thread that is what we are thinking of doing to stop this. OR does anybody else have any Ideas???

Are the drums supposed to be sealed up?
If so check for leaks

The '85s don't have a very good weather seal, the '86s is better but not perfect.
It has to be the way you are closing them up after your brake work..got to get them as water tight as possible. Lots of grease on the rubber seal around the drum lip!!
In the fall I pull the wheels off mine, spray the crap out of them with brake cleaner and seal them up so they won't sit thru the winter months with any dirt or moisture..
The problem with your ATV brakes is they aren't working regularly enough to get hot and dry them out..any moisture stuck inside riding is sure to rot the shoes off!!
Also, get some OEM shoes!!

I never run anything but OEM shoes......
They too will corrode if you let them sit in the water that sneaks in there.
