my neighbor has a moto 4 and I don't think he'll mind if I look over his motor mounts and measure it to check, it would be nice to slap a bigger four stroke in a yammi

Not sure about a moto 4 but we did try a 87 warrior 350 motor in a dx frame and there was no way. The motor is huge next to the 225. Alot wider and longer.

You're talking apples and oranges there dude. The 225 is shaft drive, the Warrior is chain.

That would be great! I was looking online just compairing images and the moto 4 case bolt pattern looks very close to the 225 but as for being a bigger motor the spacing could be larger, but if you could get the measurements that would really help thanks.

Huh no kiding. Chain and shaft you say? crazy! From what I understand the moto4 and the warrior motors share alot of the same motor parts but you are right the warrior is chain. We did find that the stock size timberwolf 250 cylinder is the same size as the max bore dx piston. Could use the hole timberwolf top end but has a lower cr than the dx and dont think it would really be a performane gain.

Yes the stock size timber wolf 250 is the max bore for the 225. But the 1992-2000 YFB250 Timberwolf 2x4 or 4x4, 1989-1991 YFM250 Moto 4, or the 1999-2004 YFM250X Beartracker all have the same jug. The bore on this jug STD is bore 71mm and stroke of 58mm. The max bore of the timberwolf is 72.00mm. As the STD bore of a 225 dx is 70mm and stroke of 58mm. So as you can see they would most likely bolt up to one another but the case of the 225 dx case would have to be bored to fit the larger piston diameter.

How did we get from 350's to 250's? The 250 jug is such a small gain it isn't even worth it.

Ha your guess is as good as mine lol. As you can see i already did my homework on that and thats why i made this is to try and put a 350 in and not a 250.

so the final is that the 350 wont fit?

there are alot of variables here. not just motor mount bolt pattern, out put and driveshaft connection, engine height, width, intake track, exhaust outlet, and so on and so on. i for one would love to see this happen but i dont think it can.

I don't have any experience with the Moto-4 350's but if it's anything like a Warrior you're dead on Andy!

I have always dreamed of putting a Timberwolf or a Beartracker engine in my YTM-225 DRS. I wonder if those are like apples and oranges? Bueller................Bueller??

Just bustin some balls here guys...all in fun. I myself was always interested in the Honda swap for the 350 motor to a big red Wonder if it would fit? Good luck on your project, keep us posted.

Yes he is very smart man, me on the other hand well lets just say I grow up and sold the moto4 for my 200x. I see what ever one is thinking the moto4 is a bigger engine so bigger engine means more hp thats true but the moto4 is slow as azz and didn't even make alot power inless you have your thumb to the bar. It would be alot of work to make it fit in a 225dx its not worth it IMO you would be better off to go buy a bigger trike ie 350x, big red 250sx

Ps Fabio please try and go easy on me I'm trying to spell better.

I have rode a couple moto4 350s and was pretty impressed with the power (for what they are). They were my grandfathers and we rode them all over sand mountain in Nevada.
