I have a chrome dg pipe on my 86 350x that the previous owner must have let Ray Charles cut and weld on:( I need a new pipe and all thats out there new is the DG. I'd like to find a Supertrapp but usually they go quick and are more then often in poor condition. I've heard that the DG's rust out quick and have a problem of breaking at the mounts. I see that they make an Alloy silencer version of this pipe with the black steel header pipe. Does anyone have the Alloy DG on here? I'd like to see a picture of how one would look and what your opinions on it are as material quality. I'm going to keep my eyes open for a Supertrapp though but if no luck I'm going to try a Alloy DG.

Other than the fact its LOUD like all dg's, Its quality seems fine to me. I've ran em. I will also add that they are not spark arrested. So the trail rangers (Or whatever you call em) may not like that to well. But other than that I think they're a OK pipe. (I just hate how loud it is). a 4 inchSuper trapp is your best bet..

Soooo does Supertrapp still make a pipe for the 350x? Check this out http://www.supertrapp.com/product_sections/cat.asp?CatID=23

yes they still make the supertrapp for the 350x. And as a person who has one on the 350x, not only do they sound awesome, but they are worth every penny! Im sure alot of ppl on here would agree with me on that as well.

If you can find one I buy it as fast as you can.

Well I ordered the DG alloy complete sytem from Dennis Kirk. I think I got a desent price on it $214. Does anyone have pics of this pipe? I want to get a idea as to what it will look like. I see alot of chrome DG's but I can't seem to come up with any pics of the alloy.

That would have been the better pipe in the long run but I never really liked the looks of the 450 silencers on the 350x. They look to big and out of place to me. I do wish the DG was spark arrested that part kind of sux. But I still have a nice stock exhaust system I can go back to if it becomes a problem.

Why not a sportbike silencer? Titanium and stainless construction.
I've got a few brand new r6 silencers laying around.
Here is a pic of my Alloy DG RCM system. It's a 1st gen model. I had the head pipe jet hot coated back in 1994 to keep it from rusting and also so it would match the exhaust. I have nothing bad to say about this DG.

Looks good! I should be getting my pipe today if UPS is on time:rolleyes: What is the difference in the first gen design? I like that you matched the header. I'm going to look into that for mine. Is jet hot coated the same as powder coated just for high temp?

I would be very interested. hot shots in hamburg. 100.00 for a tecate pipe. would have been cheaper but it filled the whole shop with smoke when they prebaked it. he wasnt too happy about that. They did my jet boat headers for 220.00

Ceramic coating a 185 exhaust? That's ridiculous....ly cool looking!
Did somebody say there was a Supertrapp for the 250SX? My stock one rusted out, but before I replaced it, I noticed a definite power improvement at the low end. I almost regretted putting a new muffler on. But I REALLY like my machines quiet.

Wow, what a great looking machine! It totally justifies redoing the exhaust. Thanks for showing it off!
The other guys beat me to the punch. JetHot is a company that does ceramic coating. I would not use them again because they claim their products carry a lifetime warranty. They honor squat. They have so many weasel clauses it's almost impossible to put a claim in. Back in 2007 I coated my swinger to match the exhaust. I used HPC coatings (High Performance Coatings). They were the originators of this process (or at least that's what they claim). They offer many coatings in different temperature ratings and colors. I just checked their website out and it looks like they are no longer in business. CRAP!!! Their site forwards to JetHot. Maybe HPC bought JetHot. Dunno. I guess Im going to have to send them an email. You can also DYI if you have a sandblaster and an oven. Eastwood Company sells the coating:

My swinger: ($35 from HPC)

The 1st gen RCM Alloy has a different baffle. The newer ones will not fit my exhaust. I found that out when the baffle nut corroded and I called DG to get a replacement baffle. They said they no longer make that one and I would have to buy a whole new system! So, I did some mods and made it work.

I got my pipe and it looks to be in good shape considering how it was shipped. It came in a plain brown box and was inside just wrapped in newspaper seems kind of weird that thats how Dennis Kirk would ship a new pipe. I figured it would atleast come in a DG box or something. What sux is they said I'd get a DG sticker with it and I didn't get one.:( Everyone knows stickers add 5hp. Anyways Now all I'm waiting on is my exhaust gaskets to get here from Service Honda. I wonder how it will be shipped.
I would contact Dennis Kirk and complain. Tell them they should take better care packing their products. Don't forget to ask for your stickers!! Every bit of hp counts! ;)

Yes there is a supertrapp for the 250sx. They are very hard to come by and few and far between but it is such a sweet sound!

You could always use SuperTrapp's universal slip-on:

Here's one installed on a 250sx:

That there is my a members here - Honda250sx . My trike was built to be almost the same as his. He did 90 of the work although I found the supertrapp. To run a super trapp on a 250sx , you need the headpipe, which is longer and larger diameter than the stock. The back part seems to be identical to a 200x end pipe.

Thats about my favorite 250sx. I watched all his youtube videos on it. If I ever buy another 250sx I also will build it similiar to that one. But back to the ceramic coating. I read somewhere that it will make your header cooler kind of like a heatshield. I had a 400ex that had a big gun exhaust on it that had the header coated and it did seem to be abit cooler.

even if you buy direct from dg it comes in a plain ole carboard box. sorry Yeah , thats what I figured must be were the savings comes from:lol: I'm not really conserned about the box or the lack of the promised DG Sticker, like you said I got a nice pipe thats what matters. And as for stickers I never put them on my bikes anyways. I dont really like the look of a million stickers all over a bike. I'm just waiting on them exhaust gaskets to get here so I can enjoy this pipe. Its too damn quiet around here!:naughty:
