So, yesterday I got my new tires mounted to new rims. I took a half day off and came home to get my SX put back together to finally get it on the trail. I had purchased Douglas .190 aluminum rims, which turned out to be too thick in the center for the lug nuts to go on all the way. So as I talked about in another thread, I went to my local Honda dealer and got 4 36mm bolts for the 86-87 250sx. I put the longer 36mm bolts on the right side to allow for the extra thickness of the brake drum, and then took the oem 33mm ones from the right and put on the left.
Naturally, this required taking both hubs off. I had our puppy Molly outside hanging out with me. You can see her in the first pic. Does she look guilty to anyone? I took this pic because I was going to show how I had to grind off the knurled portion that was too long for this hub. I didn't want it to cut into my new rims.

So now I'm ready to put all this back together, and for the life of me I can't find my left axle nut. After a half hour of fruitless searching, I started looking at the dog, who had stolen several rags during the course of the afternoon. But a big metal nut? Hard to believe. I closed up the garage and on the way in, the puppy wiggled up to me with that "I've got something" look. I wrenched her mouth open and there on her tongue was the cotter pin! Pretty sure I had found the guilty party, I called my wife who was out running errands and delivered the line: "Honey, I think Molly ate my left nut!" She played it straight and said, "Wouldn't you know that for sure?" Thnen she promised to look for it when she got home. Sure enough, she found it in the driveway while I was out hunting.

Anybody else have dogs that steal three wheeler parts?
