This is a concept I've had in the back of my head for several years now, not exactly revolutionary:rolleyes::lock: or outside the box, but this will hopefully serve the purpose on a percieved budget of $1500...
I picked up this 250X a while back for $150 with a bad engine. It was already setup for mx with a stretched swinger, wider a arms, aftermarket shocks, alum handlebars, aftermarket race cut plastics, a prm grab bar:acr and pretty well stripped of all the unusuable weight.
Here it is with the rear plastic and other non usables removed

Now, I realize the 250x/300ex is not the most desirable platform 4 this kind of build, id much rather had a 250r/400ex/450r 2 start with but this will be adequate for now.
No turning back now

Now for the star attraction, a 94 cbr600 f2 engine with a 13 tooth 520 front sprocket installed. Again, not my first choice of engine, would of rather had an f4, but I traded an old junk car for this. So the price was totally right

Its a LOTTA engine compared 2 the 250...

That's all we got done last night, will most likely be a few weeks before I can get started again. I've got some pro wedge tires in the mail already. Gotta finish fine tuning the alignment and exact placement of the engine, build the mounts, burnm in, refab the top frame rails around the engine, "trim" the plastic, modify the front of the seat, build some pegs and mountm furth rearward and fab up a shifter. Hope 2 use the atv thumb throttle, the cbr clutch cable will work with the atv clutch lever. Reuse the cbr radiator and hoses, looks like it'll mount pretty nicely in the front behind the a arms. Gonna have the headers custom built, 2 into 1s coming out of each side exiting behind the front wheels. I'm looking at a +12 asr swinger and will go with spindle mount front wheels....let the hate begin!

A rough trim job on the plastic 2 give me a better idea of the appearance....

I think I've talked myself into waiting for the ASR +12 swinger before finishing the mounts and upper frame. I wanna keep thes engine as far back a possible but there will be pretty tight clearances around the swingarm pivot tube. That means ill definately be waiting a feww eeks because they're $500+ and I blew all my lunch money on the trx250r. Lol

Looks a little funny with the giant prowedges and shortish wheelbase

how you gonna do the breather boxes?

My initial plan was to use 4 k&n pod filters specifically for circle track mini sprints that utilize cbr engines, however they're smidge taller than what id like. I think I'm gonna have to trim the seat pan back 2-3 inches in the front anyway so I may just roll with them. The air filters will be exposed between the front of the seat and the rear of the front plastic btw. Its going to be a little on the unconvential side as far as overall look, but I still wanna retain some asthetics
Also, the rear foot brake lever will need 2 be slightly re engineered to clear the side of this massive 4 cylinder, but should be a non issue. I'm goin balls deep and ditching the front brakes and hubs and will use spindle mount 10x2s w/ 130 90 10 scooter tires on the front end

Couple minescule updates, ordered my asr swingarm, they're custom building it to order, should be here in 2-3 weeks. Real good guys, even through in a new braided brake hose to match the extended length. Guess I'm committed to this chassis now!
Picked up the circle track air filters today, this is just a test fit to get a visual, ill have to modify the air horns so they'll mount up nice and tight.

Ordered the steel for the top frame, should be here next week so hopefully by next weekend I can get the engine buckled in and start rockin and rollin on this biotch.
I started removing some tread from the front tires, I think I'm gonna go with 10x4 spindles vs 10x2s and reuse these 19x6 holeshots, this will be primarily dirt and sand and I think the wider tire/wheel will be better off.

Finished one tire, my buddy seemed to think it was a waste of time. Haha, every ounce counts, I figure the slight amount of weight removed could make up for a couple gas station hot dogs I may or may not eat trailprotrailpro racing

Ha ha! I was wondering why on earth he would "dislike" your pic of your tire trimming! LOL! BTW, I think that tire trim job looks darn good. I've seen more than a few dragsters running cut tires.
Gotacrawlb4uwalk: FUNNY about the chaw and goatee! LOL!

You've got trailpros for brains! I need a long goatee to keep the buffalo wing stains off my uniform. I think I'm gonna go rob them brand new trail wolfs off that yammy in my salvage yard and cut them up to, except I'll leave enuff tread to read "F U Gottacrawlthroughapileofchickenshiznetb4uwalkallfu nny"
Indeed.

I installed an update for my photobucket app and now I can't seem to copy links so I'll have to figure out a different means of posting pics.
I got the engine mounts made up, welded in and attached the engine. I had to mount the engine a little higher up and further forward to get the chain to line up properly, which it does btw. The oil pan interfered with the right hand bottom frame rail otherwise I would've had to cut the bottom frame rail out and reconfigure it. I did get the top frame rails bent up and welded into place, I'm pretty satisfied, came out nice and square and hugged up close to the engine..
So now I've still got to mount the radiator, figure out a fuel tank, build a batt box build some headers and a few odds and ends then paint. I'm gonna work on it again next week and hopefully get some pics up in the mean time. Thanks fortaking an interest

Hard to believe its been over a year since i started on this thing. for those interested, i have been making progress.
Im waiting on some more pics to upload, but basically ive been doing minor fitments and cleaning up some misc unneeded brackets. i cut the stock cbr header apart and i think itl work fine for now. ive moved the foot peg location reatward about 4-5". Still working on the shifter and rear brake assy. i need to find a clutch cable. found a nice location under the seat for the battery. still working on the fuel tank. i ordered a chain and rear sprocket from sidewinder last friday....ill get some more pics posted as soon as i can, just wanted to give a quick update. thanks

I got some pegs tacked in place, used the oe cbr brake pedal and 400ex m/c. i think the rear brakes will be super easy, just whip out a mount for the m/c.
