This ought to be something. Temp is supposed to hit the high teens by morning. Im doing an outlaw Harescramble. This one is a two hour run at a place Ive never ridden. I spent the day prepping the TRX250R, but I think its ready. Should be a muddy one, after things thaw.

Two hours twenty minutes run on a very tough track, and extremely tight track. Honestly, if Id been on a Blaster Id have done better, but still got 3rd place in the +30 class. I cant count how many trees I caught with a front wheel, but my wrists are aweful sore. Now I know what steering dampeners are for! It was alot of fun, and I didnt stay cold for long. I got behind a new YFZ450 for 1 1/2 laps. These were 8 mile laps. He was riding slightly faster but making a lot more mistakes. He finally made one where I could pass himnear the end of my last lap. Turns out he wasnt in my class anyways, but I felt a duty to pass the guy on my antiquer. Good day, but Im sore and tired!

Was it your first scrambles? Any recommendations for someone wanting to get started racing in Scrambles type of races. Good job passing the YFZ and finishing while getting 3rd place to boot. It's always good/interesting to hear about someone's expericences racing. I've always wanted to try a Scramble but I don't think they will let 350X's compete against Quads. I just might have to go to the "dark" side and add another wheel just so I can race.

Yardbird, Im in Ohio so setup may be a lot different there than here. Most here are hilly, muddy, rocky, and wooded. Here you need tires that plow through mud, and a wide variety of conditions, 22" are a must. You may as well remove any wheel spacers, and extended A-arms unless youd enjoy being a tree wedge. Gearing should be very low. I never got past 4th, and that was only in a few short open areas, and Im geared extremely low. I ran most of teh race in 1st and 2nd. A good low end pipe is nice for a two stroker.
Aside from that, there is nothing special you need. Thats the great thing about HS, is its all rider, and very little to do with the ride.
Ive found that here, most outlaw (unsanctioned) events allow 3 wheelers, and some sanctioned events as well do. AMA events will not allow trikes at all. The trick is to find the events and call and check with them.
Ive run several HS's and enjoy them a lot. Ive even run a couple on the TriZ. A trike can be competitive on some courses, but many of them here have a lot of downhill, off camber which is murder on a trike. The one yesterday Id have probbaly done okay on a trike, with only a few off camber sections, especially as tight as it was, but on some Id get murdered.
