View Full Version : I Finally Own A 1986 ATC 250R

One of the Aussie Trike Crew posted on ozatv that he would be posting his trike for sale on ebay in the coming weeks but he wanted to offer it to one of us from the forum first. I knew right away that i wanted to buy it but i didnt have anywhere near the $5000 he wanted so i asked him to give me a week to see what i could come up with.
Ive been buying motorbikes cheap lately then fixing them up, detailing them and selling them for a good profit. I had a DR200 and a CRF250R that could get me some quick cash so i sold them plus id just sold an RM 125 and had a little saved so within a few days i called him and said i had enough money to look. I never look without having the money, it wastes everyones time.

Its a 1986 ATC 250R with a CT pipe, DG silencer, DG grab bar, 39mm carb, VForce reeds, billet spacer, K&N filter, custom swingarm, TRX400ex swingarm bashplate, Lonestar axle and 2 sets of beadlock wheels.
Needless to say i was impressed and more than happy with it and now its mine.

Thanx mate, nah not yet. Ive sat on it though and made heaps of 2 stroke noises. lol. Im hoping to take it out tomorrow to the dunes.

That's probably a good price for one over there. Makes it tempting to buy them here and export them right :)

Thanx guys, $5K is a very reasonable price over here as 2nd Gens are getting $3K. Before buying this i was seriously thinking about shipping one over. Im still doing the blue trike, im just a little distracted at the moment. lol. I'll keep you guys updated though next time i do anything to it. Its nearly finished too. Finally. lol

I think the battery is flat, bloody thing doesnt work. lol

Did you ever come across any 86/7 Tecates over there?

Im building a NOS OEM 86R with that stuff. My plans for this one are some blue grips and its done. lol
Theres 3 86/87 Tecates over here that i know of and 1 earlier model. Theyre crazy rare.

Im going riding tomorrow by myself i think so i may have a little helmet cam footage.
