My 84 200ES wont start. The stator, pulse generator, and coil all check within specs with ohm meter. The ignition coil and plug wire are new. I have a good strong spark, and have checked to make sure timing was set correctly. I double checked pulse generator to make sure it wasnt 180 out. It seems to have good compression, however my guage doesnt fit it. It wont even pop with starter fluid. I am at a loss, any help greatly appreciated.

Is your carb clean?? What's the jetting?? What's your air filter like?? If you have spark then it's either air or fuel related... Also make sure your petcock is nice and clean with good fuel flow

I have the tank off of it now, however it is very clean and petcock is clear. I cleaned carb and jets were clean. Im shocked it wont fire with starter fluid (even with a quick shot in plug hole). I checked red run switch on left handle bar and it is working. (spark, no spark). Any ideas on what more to check? Stator ohm was 258, pulse gen was 30, cdi was good, new coil and wire. Thanks for the help

turn the air screw 2 turns out the idle 3 and 1/2 and double check your timming and it will run if its getting gas and has compression and spark

Do any of you guys know if your getting a spark if your CDI is for sure good. I did'nt know if they gradually got weak or went out suddenly. My question is could a
CDI become weakened not producing a good enough spark? My spark will jump to ground about 1/4 off of electrode. thanks

Remember, engines are simple, they only run one way. Fuel, Air, Fire(This includes timing). If you have good, strong, and consistent fire, then your issue is either fuel, or air. I'm working on an older Kawasaki KE right now, that wouldn't fire unless there was NO gap on the plug, and even then really wouldn't fire consistently when in the engine, my issue was that water had flooded the left side cover, and soaked the stator and points, cleaned them up, sprayed liberally with WD-40, and she fires up first kick now.

Here's a tip, spray the anode of the spark plug with a bit of starter fluid, enough to be visible, ground it, and see if it sparks enough to light that bit of starter fluid, if it doesn't, then there's your problem.

Compression was low, 65psi, pulled head and cylinder, rings were bad, parts coming....thanks

I have the same problem, whole motor was just redone, compression is perfect and is getting lots of spark. Although, the spark is blue; does this mean anything?
