I think Curt & I got a good idea on how we're gonna pack and do things. I got a bit more work to do on my 250R but then it ought to be good to go!

Still thrashing, need to re-jet the R, get the Big red running properly, a few small things on the Tri-Z, then strip my 450R to the bare frame to bring to Tim, completely assemble the 70, tear Jessica's 200X to the bare frame, repaint and replace things as nessacary, then completely re-assemble it.Dammit the clock is ticking......

I broke both my main bikes at Bundy Hill this weekend. 350x peg bolt sheared off just less than flush in the frame and the T3's brake pedal tried to fall apart. The T3 will be cake to fix. The 350x will be a $(#*&!%. *sigh* Figures. Both bikes were finally running perfect, had tires that held air, new fork seals, brakes that worked... everything working great so of course time for some fresh new brand of disaster. No worries, though. All will hopefully be well before TF.

I have got 2 stock 70's to get running properly. Its not a big concern if it doesnt happen, but I would like to have them there.
Both need wheel bearings which I have in the garage. One needs a stator rebuild kit (ordered) I havent figured out what is wrong with the other one. I Got an enclosed trailer to haul the trikes in and to sleep in so I dont have to take down a tent in a thunder storm this year again. That will be a big plus....hopefully

Any tips for camping in an enclosed trailer?

DUDE! You're coming!?! That's so awesome! Can't wait to see you there!

It's very nice to be able to go this year (thanks to fabiodriven) and NOT have to build a 200X from soup to nuts in 20 days. I'm not telling any damn tenant either, I could care less!!

I use an air mattress or a cot. Never have 20 people inside for karaoke!!:lol:....it may become airborn from bouncing! Seriously beats tenting when the storms hit though. Leave gascans outside at night or you may feel like a paint huffer in the morning also:p See ya there

Man im in trouble this year.. nothing is ready!!! Most trikes need something small but the tecates need alot more. 88cc 70 and 125cc 70 both needs oil change and brakes, P3 needs brake pucks, 200x needs rear brake everthing scat tracker hasnt started since TF11 and both tecate motors are out, 87 is waiting on new 300cc cylinder already got new rod in it, 86 waiting for crank to come back then it gets a new 300 kit as well! Then tecates will get brakes, cables, sprockets, chains and 86 needs a front tire still.. i got alot of work! Just need parts! Shoot i dont even know what im bringing yet LOL
wish me luck!

Retapped the threads in my 86 250r's rear brake hub. We used a torch and broke the old bolts out of the hub to get the old cracked rotor off and two bolts broke off. Drilled and tapped those two. Mounted my new rotor and pads. YAY. I installed the 37 tooth rear sprocket. I bought a 14 tooth front sprocket but like an idiot I bought the wrong application and it doesnt fit the counter shaft; i threw a 13 tooth sprocket I had extra on there in place of the 12 tooth i took off. Went for a ride and the bike was a little sluggish down low from a rolling start in 1st but it feels like theres more top end speed and power now. I dont think im staying with this gearing as it may not be the most optimal set up.

NOW TO START FRESHENING UP THE 87 250SX!!!! 2 WEEKS GUYS!!!!!

I got to get on the ball....both trikes I plan on bringing still need some work! Think I blew a fuse on the SX when I hooked the charger up and didn't realize I had it on "boost" and 200e still needs bearing carrier replaced after I put a 185s carrier on it and now it has lateral freeplay. Anyone like it hot? I'm gonna bring some of my home made pepper jam....Jalapeno for the meak, Habanero for the adventurous, and a Habanero/Ghost pepper mix for those that truly like it HOT!

Gag_Halfront
06-04-2012, 03:26 PM
Curt, what y'all boiling? Anything I can contribute? Also, if you'd like to run more than one at a time, I can bring mine, too. I've got two 10-gallon brew kettles and a big-ass burner. Let me know if you want me to bring those or something to throw in the pot. :-D

No smoker this year, so I can't bring any pulled pork, but I was thinking about making a @#$+!-load of jalapeno-cheddar corn bread.

MrSOUND: How long was the charger on there? If it was on for a while, you might have boiled your electrolyte and killed your battery. Those little batteries die fast on more than a couple amps.

While I was mowing (acre lot). Wasn't the strongest when I bought it. Might just be better to purchase a new one and be done with it

Just ordered a brand-new carb for the Zinger. I pulled it apart and it's got the same exact problems from last year. You can only open up all those ports in there so many times before tolerances become off. For $30 how can you go wrong with a brandy new one?

Funny you say that. Thats what I told my buddy and father in law as we were standing there looking at it. Then my dad walked over there and said "It looks like about 3 30 packs will fit in there."

My wife is renting a building to start her daycare in, and it was in the garage. The lady who owns the building saw me looking at it when we were moving stuff in, she said I could have it if I wanted it. So me being me decided that I needed it. So now it is in my shed. Ill bet that thing weighs 400 pounds. Not exactly portable by any means.

Jason, I hope the dragstrip is in good enough shape to practice on. Some years it's unrideable until Friday afternoon. If it's tore up, we might have to mark off 300' somewhere else on the grounds to practice. :-)

Sorry to hear you won't be able to make it, Rob. I'm glad business is doing well enough to keep you busy, though. Silver lining, and all.

the 250R is ready to go, went over it one more time last night. Might need an extra set of swinger bearings though since im worried the poly urethane bushings running in place of the swinger bearings/seals have me second guessing how they will stand up to abuse. Started tearing into the 250sx and found the brakes are in need of refresh so i just picked up a front and rear set of pads on ebay and new front brake line. ATC-Eric ordered me a new front fender for the 250sx too. Nothing like ordering parts at the last minute!!!!

Coming from a guy that said 3 months ago "I could pack and be ready to leave for Trikefest in one night" I sure am scrambling. I guess partially because I'm getting all "Raffa" on my machines, but Trikefest is but once a year. Show and Shine and Riding's Fine will be my motto. My list gets bigger every night I spend in the garage. It's down to all little things now, and no major worries. My Special "Trikefest" build is done except waiting for rear tires. I leave Wednesday morning at 7AM - and my tires will be in Tuesday afternoon - LOL, great timing. The rest is general maintenance - new brakes, new chains, change oil, check coolant levels, check tranny fluids, check muffler bearings and tighten all power bands.

PS -
The Stud better bring his drinking shoes
for the Keister boys really like the booze!

PSS - "Raffa" or "Raffinization" is defined as: conversationally to describe a person who pays such attention to detail that the obsession becomes an annoyance to others, potentially to the detriment of the anal-retentive person. The term derives from Freudian psychoanalysis. Example: "I got so Raffa on my bike last night that I pulled out all the needle bearings on my steering stem and gave them a good coat of turtle wax"

Your missing out on something you would remember for ever. TF is like rolling the clock back to 1985-1987. You will be hard pressed to find such a large gathering of 3 wheelers, and you will leave a very changed person. There are many smaller area specific rides all over the country put on by other members that are loads of fun. But, Trikefest is the biggest yearly gathering in the world. Haspin has tracks, trails, and very challenging terrain, and they are very forgiving to our sometimes spells of overexcitement. Another positive is there are no campsite allotments, camp WHEREVER you want, which makes this a very unique environment of a bygone era. Much like our 3 wheelers. Haspin is very accomodating to us, and we have built up a great relationship between management and ridership. "cleaning up and not littering" It's the home of trikefest. I have personally driven to California, Upstate New York, Michigan, Ohio, and Oklahoma to attend various events. If you make plans, it's obtainable. Everyone has a year to make arrangements.

I was right across from HoosierLogger last year. Bringing down a decent amount of parts & an 87 200X and an 85 350X I'd like to unload. Hit me up while I'm there. I'll be out riding for a while, but will probably set the trailer up for an hour or two to unload some parts cheap. See you in 10 hours!

Just got home and un packed. We all survived the dust bowl. There are going to be some pretty good stories involved, like Raffa and the barn swallows, dirtcrasher and his 350x, and a few others. Ill let them tell it if they want to. Had a great time good to see old friends and make new ones. It technically did rain this year. It sprinkled for about 5 minutes on Thursday or Friday. I cant really remember.

We left last night around midnight and walked through the front door at 10:59am. What a nightmare drive. Blew a tire, ruined a trailer hub, but it was all worth the week of dust, bruises, river, riding and boozes! Had a blast with fabio and tecatedan, the OTC crew, Kiser, Specht, Mandy, hoosier, the bama boys, and every other triker out there. Already planning for next year!!

Had a blast again!! Sorry I didn't get around to mingle as much this year. Got the trike finally together on Tuesday, arrived on Thursday and was making sure I got all the bugs worked out before Friday. Plus, Jeff57 and I spent a lot of time on the big track with the CRF's and I was too busy talking him into hitting the 120 footer with me(yeah, I'm a bad influence). Thanks to all who were spotting for me while I climbed the backbone with the SX. Can't wait for next year!!

Im so proud of her (3Queen) and now I guess I better practice more so she doesnt show me up worse next year. Thanks all!!! Long drive but great company for the trip (MR Sound)and will be a yearly event for us.

It was a good time for sure. My first year there and it was a blast. Trail riding, motorcrossing, and attempting to drag race. I thought the dunes were fun, but this was unexplainable. Great people made it even better. I met some of the highly talked about vets and saw just what makes it great. Thanks everyone for making the first year a memorable one.

As a first year,Attendee. I had an amazing time at TrikeFest! The three wheeler community is filled with great people.
I saw many people help fix broken trikes and doing things like picking up trash at The Devils Backbone. Hopefully i can make it
back,Next Year!!!!

The Devils Backbone.

That is a pretty fun hill. I ran it once, made it halfway up and stalled my dirtbike. My 500's stall resistance is piss-poor, where my 250 can practically stall, and it will keep running. Havent learned the secret of the 500 yet.
Anyway, I only ran once because I was out there alone, and falling and crushing a radiator on a rock would be hell without someone to tow me back, so I left to come back to it another day.

Had an awesome time, met some guys, watched the trike pull-offs, and made some new friends. Definitely be back!

while this was my first year at trikefest, I had a great time. I wasn't sure what to expect, it was an experience I am glad I was able to experience. It was awesome to meet some of the people from 3wheelerworld. it was great to also see some of the people I do know and don't get to see anywhere near enough.

amanda is doing good after her tumble down the hill at the MX track on my Polaris. thank you to anyone who came to her rescue. Not sure who responded besides Howdy (who I thought was gonna have a heart attack).

It was great time and I cannot wait to do it again and I will be better prepared now that I know what to expect. it was great meeting: Swinehart, Howdy, Howdy's kid, Just Ben, Mik6, Hagan, Tattool, Hoosierlogger, Chicken hawk, Xowner, Captainweezy, Gag halfront, and the many more I cannot remember!

TF is a place you can walk into, borrow a trike, borrow parts, share food (and stories), and meet some people you'd never think would be the same as the one that was behind that keyboard.

Trikefest is still fresh in my mind, half-way through this work week it's all I think about. I replay riding some of those trails<that Jason nearly killed me on, Thanks Jason!>, and the MX, and I get chills. Adrenaline is what I live for and I certainly got plenty of that over the weekend. Those Trails were pretty tough, but I like a challenge. Even better than the trails, were the kindness of the people. Anywhere you looked, you saw people going out of their way to help a complete stranger. It may have started out that way but no one left there a complete stranger. Like Billy said in that article, it's a family. And one I'm glad to now be apart of. =)
