Its that time of the year again and was wondering if anyone could post up some pictures of how the plow is supposed to be mounted to the frame. And what exactly mounts it to the frame. Seems that the previous owner didnt include that. Also, do they still make the yellow grip on the handle for it and where could i find it? Google hasnt provided me with much information.

Thanks in advance!

p.s. Post up some pix !!

Found some pics of the parts I took off my BR when I removed the plow and sent it to my buddy.

You need three main brackets to hang the plow.

Two go on the foot-peg mounts..just remove the 2 foot peg bolts and place the brackets under the foot peg bracket then reinstall and tighten the bolts.

The third attaches to the front engine mount by removing the 2 bolts on the down-tube and putting the bolts thru the plow bracket and re-securing them..the bracket goes on the right side of the frame down tube

You just position the plow frame under the trike and lift the rear points up into the 'U' channel in the bracket.

http://www.3wheelerworld.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=133703&d=1318991608

This is a pic of the plow I stole from another thread..the tabs at the top of the pic fit into the 'U'channels in the brackets. Then slip the pins in the holes.

The pins look like this.. http://www.cyclecountry.com/plow-pin-kit

Then the front connects with a front link which I don't have a picture to help with..

If you have installed the brackets and moved the plow into position it pretty much explains itself!!! Figuring out how to orient the brackets was the tough part..the rest is no brainer!!

Not sure I follow where you are stuck...

Do you have the brackets installed? Can you figure out how to bring the plow frame in under the machine and hook up the back pins? Front???

They are very simple to use and install. Pick up a set of chains and you should be good to go. What bike are you putting it on? Pics?

I have a thread on here as well where I ended up making my own brackets for my '86 BR/cycle country plow. There's a series of vids on youtube where someone graciously measures out the brackets and gives an indepth analysis of how everything works (search "gunoskey3 part 3" on youtube). I took screenshots of the measurements and fabricated my own brackets which worked perfectly. Took me a few nights to fabricate, but with the proper cutoff tools and welder, it shouldn't take more than 30 minutes!

My plow is missing the yellow grip too and I decided to just leave it off. I did do the research though and found that 3/4 grips found on kids bikes/tricycles should fit. Considering we're all wearing gloves when using these, I really just don't think it's worth it at this point unless I find one for next to nothing.

I need to take a pic of mine with the new tires, plow, strobes, and hand warmers once we see some snow around here.

Good Luck!

I was thinking something along the lines of this when I decided I had bigger fish to fry.

you know, Cycle Country still makes plows for quads... bet the handle is the same...
Edit: lots of parts look the same, including the pins... gonna order some spares, I think...

I could use a new grip and also need the pin to lock in the blade position. Mine didnt come with that pin and I dont really need whole kit. Oh well

Looks cool now that you got it mounted..but.

Chains Dude..You ain't push shlt without some traction..I know you like your OEM tires from my advise is invest in a set of winter tires and rims or at least a set of chains!!!

You should be able to find the blade pin at your local farm supply store..I'd say TSC store but I don't know that you have then there.

Get some aggressive tires and you will be fine. I have been plowing my driveway without chains for a few years with no real problem. One hint, its better to plow several times during a big storm than try and do it all at the end.

Where would i get chains? This is my fathers machine and seeing as he doesnt care much about aggressive tires im sure he would opt for chains. How much are they?

I found this walk-around video on YouTube. The guy has 4 walk-around videos of his bike with the plow setup. This link is for Part 1 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utwARpn0YUk Part 3 isn't so good, but Part 4 makes up for it.

He's also got a bunch of good videos of himself actually plowing with his Big Red.

Has anyone ever been able to get one of the yellow Cycle Country grips for on the handle? If so, where?

Thats the million dollar question good buddy. I have tried almost every phrase or word for it on the net and couldnt yield any results. Maybe you might have better luck than I. However I will admit that I didnt do the logical thing which would be to call cycle country altogether.

I just bought a replacement last month for this, Cycle Country has them on the website.

This is so awesome! I just ordered one! $9-something is a bit much to ship a $1.99 handle grip that probably weighs like 1 ounce, but still, I won't complain. Thanks so much for sharing that site. I really appreciate it!

Yeah i thought it was too so when i ordered i tossed in a bunch of other parts, spare set of skids, some pins, figured if i am paying $9 shipping might as well make it worth it.. LOL

When you get it put a little liquid nails adhesive inside the grip, just a dab will do ya, and then slide it on. Mine kept working its way off a bit and spinning around so i glued it.

Are these grips just plain yellow as in the pics or do they say cycle country on them like the originals?

kb0nly
12-23-2012, 09:26 PM
Just plain yellow i think, i would have to go outside and look but i don't recall it saying anything on them. They are the current production version they use on all their plows now.

KB- the older plows like i have - i just use a long bolt to hold the blade in 1 of the 3 positions - do they sell an actual bolt for it? I guess what i am asking is do you know what originally went in there?

Got my plow grip with yesterday's mail. It does NOT say "Cycle Country" on it. In fact, it doesn't say anything on it. But still, I'm not complaining. I love it!

kb0nly - I'm going to take your advice with the liquid nails adhesive as soon as I can get to a hardware store. Thanks again!

I love my cycle country plow, made all the snow we got couple days ago a breeze. Oldtime3wheeler is exactley right, if you are having a big storm come in, you need to do it a couple times. But the cool part is I actually have fun now doing my snow, shoveling it by hand blows!

kb0nly
12-30-2012, 09:08 PM
I have the same version, its just basically a small hitch pin that you put in to hold the position.

userj8670

Well the other day with the winter 'storm' we had i was pushing some snow drifts onto the lawn to make room for more and i snapped the bolt that holds the plow blade position. lol i guess i did a good job. The other day Plow chains def would have been nice as the snow was VERY wet but we managed. Yesterday the snow was nothing but powder and i was just puttin' along

Put my plow set up on my 86 Saturday. Worked great!
KbOnly I just use a long bolt to hold mine in position tight. I have a larger blade with 5 points. I usually just use the same position.

Looking great oldtime! I have one question about the blade on these set ups. There is a large bolt and nut - 23 mm i believe - that holds the plow blade onto the frame. Is there supposed to be a lock washer on this since the nut keeps loosening up and the plow 'saggs' in the frame so to speak. If need be i can get a picture.

I don't have one on mine, but wouldn't hurt to use one.

Mine had a large carriage bolt in it when i got it, i went back to a hitch pin so i can swing it side to side as i am using it in various positions depending on who's driveway i am plowing out. I have been thinking of motorizing it with some linear actuators.

Mine is original, and it has a nylon lock nut on it
