Anyone get the $200 Tecate on craigslist in Ohio?He said the engine was ''stuck'' but it looked to be pretty good and everything was there and he had it listed for $200 OBO!I offered him double that and someone offered him $500.If the guy doesn't show tomorrow to get it,its mine he said so I was at least hoping someone here got it...The add has been deleted now.
Had about an inch of dust on it in the back of a barn...the kind of find that gets your blood pumping lol

Its gonna be in my garage haha.He called me yesterday and said 3 guys couldnt come up with the 200$ and the guy offering him 500 never showed so I was able to get it for $75.He said he didn't want to deal with no-shows anymore or hassles and wanted it gone. He's the original owner and its sat in his barn for the last 6 years.Piston looks like it is seized to the wall from sitting.Im guessing with some good penetrating oil treatments it will come undone easily cause it don't look all that bad in the cylinder.
At the very least I will have to hone it but probably replace it.We will see how bad it is and what the piston looks like.
Other than that it just needs cleaned up and a new tire.
I'll post pics this week after I get the piston free....Im gonna let i soak several days first.Once I get it running I will be selling or trading it for another 3 wheeler if anybody is interested I live near Marion and Delaware,Ohio.
Green ain't my color LOL but I couldn't pass this sweet deal up.

I know lol.I got the top end off and went through the bottom and everything is fine.
Piston is just seized in cylinder.I might just buy a new cylinder/piston and not even mess with it.

You forgot it needs a flywheel and stator ..... its a tecate they all need those
Just a bit of advice, the next time you get something to sell don't tell people what you payed for it. No good can come of it

Nothing wrong with stating prices in my opinion! It's worth has nothing to do with what you paid for it! I've got a grampa-fresh 86 SX I paid 250 for. $1500 wouldn't get it out of my hands, not that it's for sale anyways.
Listen to Xowner! Get a flywheel and stator ASAP!

Ok I got the piston unstuck in 10 minutes with pb blaster or whatever its called. It shifts fine too...I need a carb and lid for the air box or I may just make one if they are hard to find.I'll post pics in a few minutes.IMO it was steal for the $200 he was asking let alone paying 75$,just needs cleaned up good.

Yes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Times a billion!!!!
Stock ones will begin to fail around this period in their life. Ricky Stator is all you need to go to. Mike is a great guy when it comes to his products.

Okay thanks!
Man I sure wish a 86'-87' engine would fit in there.I have a clean one in my shop that I bought awhile back thats all ready to go.I wonder what it would take to get it fitted in there?
Just re-position the engine mounts? Anyone here swapped one?Or a different engine into it.

If you go the way of fixing her. Please give your business to Jeswinehart on here. He will redo your flywheel, one piece solid magnet. Better than new,,,$50. You can't touch that price anywhere!! Coils are your call. But the flywheel will fly apart left untouched... That looks like a low hour bike that's just sun bathed all it's life. So,it's original.

Engine mounts are the same. The problem arises with the exhaust port location. The 86 engine has the exhaust come right out the middle, right where the frame is on the 85. I would stick with the motor that came with the trike.
Changing out the flywheel and stator is a must.
