New to the forum due to the latest variation of my addiction. Hence the name. I have been riding mostly 2 and 4 wheels as an adult (age not maturity!) been all over the country with dirtbikes an a couple good freinds. One of those friends dragged home a trike 6 months ago and I made the mistake of taking it for a spin. This triggered some incredible flashbacks to 1983 and my very first motorized knobby equiped toy, the ATC185S. I was the happiest 12 year old in the world...really! So here I am reliving my childhood, I hope I survive the three wheelers this time around? After all they are "dangerous!", even illegal!

I also noticed a few members from MA, I'm out by the worlds largest piggy banks, sorry..casinos. Can you guys recomend a local place to ride off-road only equipment? I have been riding a plated two wheeler and have no problems with finding local places to throw some dirt but get back on the street to go home. The wife and I take the quads to NH but would like a closer place to play with the new ATC's.... Thanks

Knobs,
Never too late to drive a trike. 185S at the age of 12, you were animal man!

Thanks for the welcome! I have a nuby ATC question, yes I researched first but would like some opinions. I am searching out a 250sx as an atc purchase, there are a lot of 1985 vintage available locally. My research revealed cold start issues and rear differentials that get soggy as the weakpoints for 1985. I would like some opinions on if I should I hold out for a 86/87 or purchase an 85 with a clean rear diff? Also does anyone know if the 1985 was a larger production run?

Thanks

Welcome!

first off if I were you I would hold off until you find an 86/87. I like there color scheme too :D

also, what draws you to the SX? I love the two we have had. BUT, I also love the time I have spent on the seat of a 250R and 350X

Thanks!
250R must be fast but I have enough two smokers in the fleet (lt80's and bw80's), never a big a fan of the smoke, noise and vibration (heh...same goes for a harley). I have ridden a 350X once...sweet! but really want reverse and some mud worthiness. With the exception of iced over lakes there is not enough open space around here for the speedy trikes. If I come a cross an unmolested 350x I would buy it and put it in the attic but want a 250sx rider for bombing around.

Did you have an 85? if so what were the issues? I can put my hands on three of them for under $500 each....sooo tempting!
