Big Red Upgrades

Hey everyone i was wondering if anyone has done any engine upgrades to a big red ie high compression piston or cam? If so did it help?

Hi comp can be fun but not always fun to start, break pull ropes etc. on the 84 and earlier models.
85 and newer seems to be fast enough but a pumper carb does make a big difference.

I'm sure it's been tried by many on here. What cams fit and was it all worth it should pop up for you soon.

Well, I'm pretty new to the Big Red myself... I just got a really nice '84 a couple of months ago... With an '83-'84 and possibly and '82 I would think just about any engine component mod, IE cam, piston, etc that works with a 1st gen 200x would work???

Don't know what might work on the '85 and later 250 BR's though...

Thanks for the info guys I have found that wisco makes a 10.25 to 1 piston and web makes a cam. What pumper carb are youtalking about?
