they were the hybrid of the 90's and a very popular conversion. 4 wheel action or dirtwheels had a acticle about doing it on a trx250x/300ex, it isn't too good in the trike fantatics mind. Leager used to make a frame to accept a 250x/300ex/350x motor and use 250r for the rest of the bike. If it was done on a stock 250r frame, it had a problem of derailing the chain. The problem lies in placement for the motor, done correctly, the bottom frame rails need to be dropped, so the sprocket lines up w/ the center of the swingarm pivot point. Many didn't do this and the sprocket was too high up.

Does anyone remember the exact issue? I've been trying to sell my trx250R and no takers on the left coast and I've got spare 350X engines and have thought about this in the past.

The issue with a stock framed RX is that the motor sat too high and the chain got looser as the swingarm swings up, and the chain flys off when you land. I have seen loads of RX's over the years and I would not even think about owning one with a stock frame. The 350x tears the R frame apart when properly ridden....just my opinion.

Maybe you can help. I have a gussetted 87 frame that the lowerframe has been modified and the 350X engine has been lowered in it. It's a full gusset job. Has all custom built motor mounts. Guy I got it from said some guy did them back in the 90's. Said he built 100's of them. You guys got any info?

years ago i rode i that was 4 sale, the engine ran great but didnt have enough power for all the extra front end weight. wouldnt even wheelie. im planning on a 660 raptor engine into a tri-z conversion as soon as i get all the parts. good luck.

That's the other problem with a stock framed RX, they spin like mad and wont carry the front end.
My aftermarket RX is semi hard to keep the front end down when leaving the hole.
